U.S. WAR MACHINE vol. 2 #12 Print E-mail
(January 2002) "Book 1:  Chapter 12."  Story: Chuck Austen.  Art:  Chuck Austen, Wild and Wooly Press and NIC Entertainment.  Layout:  Victor Lopez. Associate Producer: Jeremy Lambros.  Doom holds Rhodes at his mercy!! (Jim apparently is responsible for Doom's "scarring" in this continuity.) Darkhawk attempts to rescue Rhodey -- but Doom explodes 'hawk's head! Whoa! Next, MODOK attempts to fry Doom's mind, but he too, explodes! But Rhodey had some time bought, and now begins his own armored assault against Doom!Dugan and Sheva pop in and inform Doom that Rhodes was the one who just saved his entire race! Thus, Doom agrees to end hostilities, but demands the head AIM be left to him (and just guess what the Doc does to him!). Endings include: Darkhawk somehow "reanimating" himself, Rhodey checking after the daughter of the woman victim of AIM in issue #1, and lastly -- Tony Stark ending the series by informing us "he's going to take his armor back"  from SHIELD!!

Hube's Recomm.: USWM patches!

TJ's Response:  The culmination of a great series.  The main plot-lines are resolved, and plenty of questions abound!  What's the story on this brand of Darkhawk? Did Stark don the armor before?  Will he in the next series?  What kind of SHIELD armor upgrades can we expect?  How will the SHIELD suits fare against Iron Men? Chuck Austen and Co. have created a great series.  Nevermind that it was a weekly format at $1.50 (when most comics are ~$2.25)!  The art was great - and very appropriately in 'Black and White'.
TJ's Recommendation:  4 and 1/2 USWM patches!

TJ's Series Recommendation:  A must-have for any James Rhodes/War Machine fan!
