The Wrecker was just an average joe until he acquired a crowbar endowed with the Asgardian magic of the Norn Queen! Not only did he get super strength but the crowbar made an excellent weapon! Wreck was a big-time foe of Thor, and Thor even suckered him into losing his powers while battling in New York (Thor #171). Later, Wreck joined up with three buddies and became the Wrecking Crew after a bolt of lightning reignited the crowbar's powers (detailed inDefenders #18).

The Wrecker took on Iron Man during "Acts of Vengeance." Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin, hired Wrecker to trash Shellhead, and he nearly did just that; unfortunately, the crowbar-yielding fiend forgot about Tony Stark's brain -- Stark magnetized Wreck's crowbar and he got sandwiched between a bunch of flying cars!
