Stratosfire

Sandy Vincent was a mere secretary at Roxxon Oil, until it was discovered that only her chromosomes were suitable for a revitalization of the Sunturion Project! She agreed to the transmutation process and ended up with the exact powers Sunturion once possessed (see IM #143-144). She initially was portrayed as an Iron Man-like symbol for Roxxon (with her code-name "Stratosfire"), but with the seedy corporate types Roxxon houses, it was inevitable that Stratosfire would be asked to do some "nasty" business!

Indeed, Sandy was sent to the country of Costa Gavras to blow up some rival co.'s oil refineries! She knew it was against her own principles, but she convinced herself to look "at the big picture." That is, until Roxxon killed her best friend for spilling the beans to one Tony Stark about the whole Stratosfire Project! After that, Strat not only started busting up Roxxon, but any other venture that went against her own "one world" morality. Iron Man, of course, had to stop her, but found it a difficult going! He was assisted by a reanimated Sunturion, who managed to activate Stratosfire's "Zed Control" -- essentially a self-destruct device. Stratosfire was destroyed, while Sunturion reverted -- seemingly permanently -- back to human form.

First IM Appearance:  Iron Man Annual #9.
