Frankenstein Print E-mail

During the latter years of the eighteenth century, Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant student in chemistry and the biological sciences at the University of Ingolstadt and the heir to a Swiss barony, embarked on experiments to create artificial life. Frankenstein hoped thus to create a new species of humanoid life, and, by doing so, to learn how to reanimate the dead and thus discover a means for human immortality. Frankenstein succeeded in piecing together a giant humanoid form from various parts of different fresh human corpses. Frankenstein's extraordinary genius enabled him to discover a means of preventing cellular deterioration in the body parts he used, and to overcome the human body's tendency to reject parts transplanted from another. Finally, using means that remain unrevealed, Frankenstein brought his creation to life. Terrified and revolted by the grotesque creature once he had come to life, Frankenstein abandoned him.

Iron Man, after his epic conflict with the Mandarin (IM #100), was flying over Yugoslavia in a stolen Chinese fighter jet. He was shot down, knocked unconscious by an exploding shell. He was then discovered by "The Children" and the Frankenstein Monster! Frank and the "kiddies" hoped that IM could aid them in their fight against the "Other" -- in reality the Dreadknight!  Once awake, IM gave the obligatory battle, not understanding what had transpired. But, eventually, he teamed up with Frankie against Dreadknight (IM #102) and the duo were victorious

First ever appearance: Silver Surfer #7.
First IM appearance:  Iron Man #101.
