Clay Wilson was a cocky young man when he
invented the Force armor and decided to use it for personal gain. He had a long
career as a criminal that brought him into conflict against superheroes such as
the Sub-Mariner (Sub-Mariner
vol. 1 #68) and Iron
Man. Eventually he struck a deal with criminal
industrialist Justin Hammer,
where he would share half of the profits of his crimes with Hammer in return
for Hammer's protection and financial backing. Unfortunately for him, he once
mistakenly tried to rob the Stark yacht Throatwarbler
Mangrove and came into conflict with
Shellhead as a result (IM
#140-141).
However, as time passed, Wilson became sick
of his life of crime and violence. When he confided in Justin Hammer about this
feelings, the criminal businessman responded by confining him and putting a failsafe mechanism in his armor
to kill him if he escaped (IM #223).
Force managed to escape and turned to Tony Stark for assistance. Stark disabled
the mechanism and Wilson surrendered the Force armor. Hammer, angered by
Wilson's betrayal, sent Blizzard, Beetle,
and Blacklash to kill
him, but with the timely assistance of Jim Rhodes,
their attack was thwarted. To prevent Hammer from bothering Wilson again, Stark staged Wilson's accidental death.
In reality, Wilson found employment at Barstow
Electronics under the name
Carl Walker (IM
#224). "Walker" has assisted Stark since -- both
times using Iron Man suits.
He once utilized the Stealth armor (when Stark was crippled) to stop the
Fixer, and again as a member of the "Iron
Legion" against
Ultimo (IM #300).
First ever appearance: Sub-Mariner #67.
First IM Appearance: Iron Man #140.
