Stone (convenient name,
eh?) was project director of the Mt. Acheron Geothermal Research Facility in
the Mojave Desert...when something went terribly wrong: An earthquake knocked
Dr. Stone into a bath of molten rock! But get this -- he doesn't die! Whoa! He
"merges" with some molten "life-force" to become ... Earth Mover! Of course, he
wants to trash the Mojave facility, so after an emergency phone call is made, Iron Man
jets off to do battle with the rock creature! The two do battle to a virtual
standstill until a much bigger worry makes its appearance!! The duo's scuffle
provides an escape route for one of
Shellhead's greatest
enemies -- Ultimo! Quickly
forgetting their differences, Earth Mover dives in after the huge robot ... and
is promptly disintegrated by Ultimo's eye beams (IM
#299)! Bummer!
