The Blood Brothers are symbiotically linked
aliens who served the Death-worshipping Thanos of
Titan. They initially were dispatched to "off"
Shellhead after Drax the Destroyer
summoned Iron Man telepathically
to aid him in escaping a Thanos trap (IM #55).
IM is captured by the
super-strong duo, but then a mysterious ray beam from Titan activated IM's chestplate -- which freed
Drax! Drax and IM then
teamed-up to mop the floor with the Brothers, and then to confront Thanos.
Unfortunately, it was only a Thanos robot stand-in!
Later, the duo reappeared under the influence
of the Controller (IM
#88-89), much to the surprise of
Shellhead who thought the
two were destroyed by Thanos himself (Marvel
Feature #12). This time, the BB pummel Iron Man, who falls through a
dock into the water -- his armor malfunctioning! IM
is rescued by Daredevil,
and the duo team-up to stop the blood-sucking siblings (IM
#89). IM
gets a plan: lure the bros away from each other, and they'll get weaker (since
they rely on their symbiosis for strength). It works! One momentarily gets free
from jail while IM later
battles the Controller, but is quickly dispatched (IM
#91).
