NTU-150 Print E-mail
Armor Specs: NTU-150

Nickname: None
Designer: Anthony Stark, HOMER
Worn By: N/A - see Notes
Appeared: Iron Man #290

Design Notes :

Shell Composition: Semi-rigid interior/3D knitted metallic exterior made from actual, ordinary iron provided protection from physical attacks as well as heat, cold, some energy forms, and acid.
Power Source and Energy Information: Beta Particle Power Supply. It was able to recharge itself from electrical sources,a thermocouple to syphon power from extreme heat or cold, or solar power. Because of the increased equipment load, the unit's internal power supply is rated at approximately two orders of magnitude greater than the Iron Man Personal Combat Armor.
Control Systems: Telepresence Neural Net: This was the second generation unit that incorporated the telepresence system. It was not worn as a suit of armor. The functions and muscle control was carried out by the suit. Its connection was very fragile and easily broken.
Weaponry:
*Sonic Emitter: Generates and broadcasts high frequency sound waves.
*Palm Repulsors (Mark 3): Laser-guided particle beam emission units mounted in the palm of each hand.
*Pulse Bolts: The armor can generate torpedoes of high energy plasma. They increase in intensity as they travel. However, they are slow-moving projectiles, easily dodged.
*Heat Beam: The armor can generate a narrow beam of intense heat. It can also be internalized to heat the surface of the armor until it is too hot to touch.
*Sonic Distorter.
*Electromagnetic Pulse: The armor can generate a pulse of electromagnetic energy that shuts down all electrical systems within a 1 mile radius. However, it also shuts down the armor until it can reboot (currently it takes about six minutes).
*Gatling Gun: Shoulder mounted. This is a state of the art gattling machine gun. It can be loaded with all kinds of bullets including stun and armor piercing.
*Cutting Laser Blade.
*Micro-Rocket Launcher.
*Particle Beam Discharger/Coherent Beam Weapon.
*Flamethrower.
*Taser.
*Tear Gas.
*PULSOR Beams.
*Tactical Decoy Units.
Equipment:
*Grappling Line.
*Flame Retardant Spray.
*Boot Jets.
Sensors:
*Full Band Transceiver: both Audio and Visual.
*Radar.
*Sonar.
*Infrared.
*Electrical/Magnetic: By measuring the variences in the magnetic fields in structures, the armor could reverse engineer a schematic of the layout of where power lines ran inside of the walls and overlay the layout onto the visual display inside the helmet.
*Life Detector: Uses a combination of pinpointing heat sources and measuring their temperatures.

Notes: Though similar in design to both the Iron Man Mark 7 personal utility armor and its remote-controlled counterpart, the NTU-150 incorporates the new SE TelePresence technology, enabling the unit to be operated under full Virtual Control. This unit is not a wearable suit of armor; rather, it is a fully-articulated device controlled by the mental impulses of the user via a remote headset apparatus. The remote headset transmits commands to the active unit in much the same way as the human brain transmits commands to the central nervous system (in this case, it is via a subspace radio connection, lessening reaction time to almost zero). Similarly, the visual, aural, and (to a lesser degree) tactile information collected by the NTU-150 can be interpreted by the user's brain in the same way as normal sensory data. The primary difference, of course, is that the sensory data collected by the NTU-150 includes a full range of electromagnetic spectra and computer-processed data normally unavailable to humans, while the active devices contained in the unit includes not only analogues to the human body, but weaponry, data collection and processing hardware as well, all under autonomic and voluntary nervous system control. In contrast to traditional robotic devices, the NTU-150 contains no mechanical framework to mimic the action of the human body. The unit's outer shell is articulated by a multiprocessor-controlled structural integrity field which allows for a much greater range of movement.
