Eidolon Warwear Print E-mail
Armor Specs: Eidolon Warwear

Nickname: Alien Armor, Warwear, Living Armor
Designer: Extraterrestrial Eidolon
Worn By: James Rhodes
Appearance: War Machine #18

Notes:

The Eidolon were a race of intergalactic warriors spread out through time and space fighting against numerous alien nasties. They clad themselves in a living, symbiotic bio-suit which could form itself into almost any type of weapon its wearer could imagine.  One of these suits "sensed" Jim Rhodes and seeked to bond with him. This it did, and then proceeded to "test" him against a fierce alien creature called a Lictor. Rhodes defeated the Lictor, and then grilled the mysterious woman named "Skye" about just what was happening to him. Rhodes learned much about the Warwear, and realized he had been chosen to wear the Warwear against Iron Man (who was under the influence of Immortus/Kang during "The Crossing"). He also took on Cybermancer (extra-dimensional member of Force Works), and Dirge, another Eidolon warrior. The Warwear also prevented Rhodes' death from "time fatigue" after a mission to World War II and back; this same mission claimed the life of Jim's friend Sheva Joseph. Evetually, after Tony Stark "died," Rhodes used his Warwear to infiltrate the computers of Stark-Fujikawa to delete any and all references to the Iron Man armor. As a result of this effort, Rhodes "lost" his connection to the Warwear. Apparently, Jim is still cured of the "time fatigue" despite losing the Warwear.

Design Notes:

Much is still unknown about the Eidolon Warwear. However, we learned a bit about it during its short tenure as a part of Jim Rhodes.

Weaponry:
*Drone Remotes:  The Warwear can "unskin" -- or "morph" -- remote drones which can discharge various types of energy and concussive force. If a drone is destroyed, Rhodes suffers pain from a "sympathetic shock wave" due to his symbiotic connection to his suit. The drone remotes can also act as sensors and as infiltrators of various electronic/computer systems. The beauty of the Warwear is that the wearer can "morph" almost anything he needs out of the suit.

The remotes can also create defensive energy shields virtually instantaneously.

*Left Arm Cannon:  Capable of "big time devastation."

Equipment:
The Warwear can sense its wearer's thoughts, feelings and emotions and respond accordingly.

*Visual Sensors:  The Warwear can adjust its visual sensors to just about any type of wavelength and more. If an enemy is operating via stealth, the Warwear will inform its wearer and adjust its visual sensors so the wearer can detect the enemy.

*Other Sensors:  The Warwear can detect an enemy's bio functions (such heart rate and adrenal levels) and inform its wearer of such so that they (suit and wearer) can be ready for an attack before an enemy even begins it.

*Space operations capability:  The Warwear can automatically convert itself into a spacesuit, pressurizing itself into a protective shell. A damping field seals the wearer's mouth and nose and circulates air, and the suit's lenses tint and polarize.

*Flight:  The Eidolon suit is capable of impressive speed, both in and out of atmosphere. Several times Jim Rhodes expressed amazement at how fast the suit was. We know the suit can reach Mach-2 in a nanosecond's time. The suit can also achieve "slipstream," although the precise velocity of this speed was not elucidated upon. ("Slipstream" velocity in certain fiction is a faster-than-light velocity.)
