IRON MAN #244 Print E-mail
(July, 1989)  "Yesterday....and Tomorrow." Cover art: Bob Layton. Script: David Michelinie. Art: Bob Layton.  Tony Stark has trouble adjusting to life as a "physically challenged" (to be PC) person. Meanwhile, Roxxon takes advantage of Stark's condition (and the fact that SE advertised that Iron Man was "away on some secret mission"), sending the Fixer to destroy some key Stark inventions. Carl Walker/Clay Wilson (aka Force) is recruited by Rhodey to be an IM fill-in (in the Stealth Armor, of all choices) and deal w/the incursions.  Tony, after visiting a hapless chum in an iron lung, thinks back to earlier days -- and a girl named Joanna Nivena, who was once his fiancee! He is filled with determination, and goes about building modifications into his current armor which will enable him to move his useless legs! Double-sized issue.
Hube's Recommendation:  repulsors!
