IRON MAN ANNUAL #14 Print E-mail
(1993)  Cover art: Tom Morgan.

-"Unfamiliar Faces." Script: Len Kaminski. Art: Tom Morgan/Fred Fredericks.  Creighton McCall drops an expensive antique -- and the Face Thief is free!! An ancient demon is he -- a "Shinma" -- and the Masters of Silence have been alerted to his presence on earth! The MoS enlist the aid of their former ally, Iron Man (from IM #282-283), and IM knows who McCall is -- the dad of his former squeeze Meredith! Meredith volunteers to become a Master of Silence after one is cut down by the Face Thief, thus making the idiocy of the vol. 1 Iron Boy issues -- where Young Stark meets Professor McCall (Meredith) -- even more pathetic. Great script which holds up despite the usual ugh Morgan art.

-"While the Band Plays On." Script: Scott Benson. Art: Kris Renkewitz/Brad Vancata.  War Machine and Hawkeye investigate a terrorist attack in Silicon Valley which leads to a morality argument between the two. Appears to be a precursor to WM's own now-dead title.

-"Heritage of Vengeance." Script: Len Kaminski. Art: John Czop/Frank Percy, Tim Dzon.  Cool history of the Masters of Silence, definitely one of Kaminski's best creations. Told mostly via the viewpoint of new member Meredith McCall.

-"Cover Gallery."  A gallery of that year's past covers.

Solid issue, sustained in most part by Kaminski's excellent scripts.
Hube's Recommendation:  1/2 repulsors!
