Armor Specs: Mark 2
Nickname:
The Golden Armor
Designer:
Anthony Stark
Worn By:
Anthony Stark
Appeared:
Tales of Suspense #40
Design Notes :
Shell
Composition:
Semi-rigid interior with 3D knitted metallic exterior of a lightweight iron
alloy provided protection from physical attacks as well as heat, cold, some
energy forms, and acid. Improved the suit surface with gold plating for early
force field experiments.
Power
Source and Energy Information:
The armor ran on batteries and was able to recharge itself from
electrical sources.
Control
Systems Interface:
All of the armor's devices and functions were manually controlled
by the wearer.
Weaponry:
Monobeam
(Mark 2).
Portable
Proton Beam Generator (useful range was only several yards).
Sledgehammer
(first Hulk-Buster enhancement?).
Reverse
Energy Beam.
Mirrors
(used to make multiple images of himself;, modifies the chest beam to blast
heat.
Searchlight Mode.
Life Support Equipment:
Pacemaker in the chest-plate.
Boot
Jets (Mark 1):
Provided limited flight. Steering while flying was accomplished by
body-english.
Equipment:
Suction
Cups:
They mounted to the knees
and hands of the armor enabling it to "stick" to walls and ceilings.
Miniature Buzz Saw:
It is actually more like a
hack-saw that extended from the fingertip of the gauntlet.
Electromagnets:
By attaching standard
electromagnets to his transistors, Iron Man could increase their effectiveness
by a number of magnitudes. This allowed him to literally pull things to him and
by reversing the polarity, push things away.
Rollerskates:
Collapsible into the boots and rocket powered.
Electrical
Field Generator.
Solar
Recharger.
Force
Field.
Hand
Drills.
Public
Address Speakers.
Power
Clippers.
Sensors:
Short-Wave Two Way Radio;
Radar; Also contained a tape recorder.
Notes:
Still based on the Model I
Armor. Powered by flat linear armature DC motors. Employed negative feedback
motion sensing. Kilt-covered groin segments. Improved communications with
the addition of a telescoping antennae. It was built to be flexible enough that
it could be collapsed and hidden in a secret briefcase compartment, allowing
for quick access. In addition, the chestplate (which still had to be worn at
all times to keep Stark alive) was slimmed down so that he could conceal it
under his clothing.
(Thanks
to Jason Langlois and, as ever, Paul Livingston, for their work!)
