Mark 12: The Retro Armor 1 Print E-mail
Armor Specs: Mark 12

Nickname: The Retro Armor 1
Designer: Anthony Stark (?), HOMER, Machinesmith (?)
Worn By: Anthony Stark (?)
Appeared: Iron Man #319

Design Notes :

Shell Composition:  Layered "flex-metal" which can condense itself like a 3-dimensional accordian pleat. Micro-Scale suit tiles fabricated by genetically engineered metal affinity bacteria which assemble themselves in specific orderly arrays, then expire,
leaving behind various metallic deposits which form all the metal shapes and micro-electronic circuits.

Power Source and Energy Information:  Beta Particle Generator; Solar power converters.

Control Systems Interface:  Cybernetic interface and battle computer.

Weaponry:
*Unibeam: Multi-band light and force beam emitter. Can be adjusted for a variety of effects such as search light, heat beams, tractor beam, lasers, image inducers, ultraviolet light, and electromagnetic pulse.
*Repulsors: Laser-guided particle beam emission units mounted in the palm of each hand. This armor's gauntlets have
wrist-top projectors as well.

Equipment:

*Life Support Equipment: The eye and mouth hole slits could be sealed. The suit had a supply of air to last about an hour.
*Boot Jets (Mark 4). Uses high-speed triple-source turbines located in the boots.

Special Notation:

This armor, like the Arctic Armor, was designed either by the real Tony Stark or some evil doppleganger controlled by the time-lord
Kang (later revealed to be Immortus posing as Kang) during "The Crossing." This armor was constructed in Stark's (?) Arctic bunker. This armor had various incarnations during The Crossing. Whether this was due to writer/artist indifference, or was supposed to be due to Kang's time influence is unclear. An examination of  Iron Man #s 320-325 as well as corresponding Force Works, War Machine and Avengers issues are testimony to these armor "changes."
