I know that there's probably a similar thread somewhere in the archives of the forums, but I was just curious what you guys think is the best story line EVER?

Doomquest?
Demon in a Bottle?
1st War Machine?
Origin story?
Ultimate?

What do you guys think?

My favorite Iron Man issue is Vol I 150.

If you can stretch the definition of single storyline the entire Camelot Saga would be my choice.

Ditto for me.

I don't know if it counts as a single storyline because it builds slowly and with subtlety, but I think the Hammer arc from issues 117-128 is my favorite.

I will always be a big fan of the War Machine issues because of the action, but all in all I'd hgave to give it to the orignal Armor Wars saga

Though I picked the Camelot Saga as what I consider the best, it would have to be equally tied with the story arc from #182-#200.  Tony Stark overcomes his alcoholism and slowly builds himself back up both as a person and as a hero, culminating with his battle against Obadiah Stane.  It was these issues that really cemented Tony Stark (not just Iron Man) as my favorite character.

Either the Armor Wars arc or the Dargon Seed Saga.  The funny thing is that I hate the concept of Iron Man fighting mythological things like dragons, but the DSS was just built so well over time and the Mandarin was a real threat being manipulated by the Makkluans, it was great.

My favorite Iron Man story arc would have to be the Obadiah Stane saga from the 160's to the 200's; while it dragged on too long and got very depressing at times, it had most of the best moments in Iron Man's history. Making heroes fall from grace is commonplace in today's industry ( how many times has it happened to Daredevil, again? ), but even recent efforts are almost never as executed as well as Denny O'Neil's story.

For individual story arcs, I'd pick the Demon in a Bottle storyline, the Armor Wars ( though I personally think it's a bit overrated ), The Dr. Doom encounters, Crash and Burn by Len Kaminski, parts of Joe Quesada's Mask in the Iron Man, and Ellis' Extremis arc ( despite its later ramifications ). I would also pick the Knaufs' run, but their story is still in progress and Execute Program was a bit of a shaky start. And for one-shots, I'd pick the Epic Comics story Crash, which is a brilliant story despite its primitive art.

I also found the Stane saga to be pretty good.  My favorites are still the Armor Wars I and II sagas, as well as the Crash and Burn saga.

I loved the stane storyline too.  Rhodey as IM was awesome and the parallel saga of stark regaining his life was very. very cool.  I liked the Midas/Masque storyline too.

i know its not considered very dramatic or even very well remembered but my favorite iron man arc was in the late 60s when tonys life was stolen by his own Life Model Decoy
tony  had to fight the LMD using the classic gold armor
 i always loved that storyline

Yeah, that was a pretty cool story.  Archie Goodwin did some great comics.

Armor Wars, Kaminski/Hopgood issues 280-300, Armor Wars 2 and more.  But those are the best ones for me.
