In 1982, the Iron Man stories here in Brazil were being published with a huge time gap in relation to the original American editions. Abril, the publisher reprinting Iron Man here, decided to skip several issues to cover that gap in order to start publishing the Micheline / Layton run as quickly as possible. But before that, they had to tie the loose ends left by the dangling plots of the stories that were already being published.

When that decision was made, Abril was beginning to publish here the Gerry Conway's Iron Man / Daredevil crossover. Since in that crossover the main parts were told in Daredevil, they took the opportunity to join that storyline with the subsequent ones where the break up with Marianne Rodgers occurred and Simon Gilbert and Kevin O'Brien died, closing a phase of Iron Man's life to start another with a clean slate.

To achieve this, all parts of the crossover that appear in Daredevil were ignored, some issues of Iron Man were skipped, others had pages cut, retouched art and rewritten dialogues.

As a result, for the Brazilian readers of the time, Mr.Kline was actually working for Simon Gilbert, Tony never had a romance with Roxanne Gilbert or Madame Mask and Happy and Pepper never went back to work at Stark Industries.

Anyone else around here who is not American has any stories to tell about the publication of Iron Man comics in their countries ?

Cheesy And all that editorial effort paid off , because the Micheline / Layton run proved to be very popular here in Brazil. So much so that when Denny O'Neil’s run began to be published here, thanks to pressure from the readers, his stories were also almost all skipped so that they could publish the second Micheline / Layton run around here sooner than they planned.
