I was just reading the AI bios and saw that both Roger and I mark issue #182 as the comic that got us hooked on Iron Man.  I had read a handful of IM and Avengers issues before #182 (my brother got quite a few comics), but something about that issue had me hooked.  And when subsequent issues played out Rhodey's struggle (as well as Tony's continuing struggle), I got hooked on Rhodey.  He is still the greatest character in comics to day.  While everyone talks about how Tony Stark proves ANYONE can be a superhero (as long as they are billionaire geniuses), Rhodey showed my ANYONE can be a HERO!

That's what got me hooked when I was a kid... the idea that anyone could put on that suit. Those are great thoughts when you're a young'un and beats looking for some radioactive spider to bit you. :-)

Or wandering into military blast zones hoping they'd be testing Gamma bombs that day!

Yeah, you wouldn't believe how many times I tried to get a radioactive iron to bite me... Never seemed to work. Go figure!  Wink
