I thought you guys might be interested to see an interview I did recently with Matt Fraction.  It's pretty soft, on purpose, because O'Reilly I'm not, but I think you'll find some of the stuff he says interesting.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rxhTwfyDQM

On another note, off-camera he said he wasn't leaving the books anytime soon.  I said I'd heard the rumors and he replied: "Well, everyone leaves the book eventually, but... no."  So.  Huh.  Then after that I read on this website that he said he is.  Huh.  Anyway, we'll see.

LOL! Did you tell him that you were an A.I. guy? I'm somewhat confident who knows that many of us are not fans of his work. Maybe he was putting on a face?

HAHA, no.  I didn't say word one about my involvement with this forum.  So, unless he's watched my webshow and made the connection to Advancediron--in which case I'm flattered--I was completely incognito.  Even so, I hope he would recognize I'm one of his biggest fans in this place (which I suppose isn't saying much, but anyhoo...).  I still don't know why he'd put on a face about something like that only to take it back a week or so later either.

I wouldn't think so, but anything's possible since it's connected to Screenrant.

Just out of odd curiosity. Does anyone else think it's odd that he's not being consulted for IM3? After all, he was consulted on IM2.

No offense to the interviewer, mind you.

None at all. I just can't take seriously the words of a man who has destroyed the character and book, and thinks he has done a great job all the while...

The rumbling is that RDJ and Marvel were very disappointed with the reaction to IM2, ergo the new director.  It wouldn't surprise me if that resulted in a scorched-earth policy of ANYONE creatively involved in IM2 (aside from RDJ) being thrown out the window.

But that's just conjecture.

Haha.  None taken.  Sometimes I enjoy watching/reading people I passionately disagree with just so I can get inside their head and understand them.  Othertimes though, I just can't stand it.

I can understand that. A lot of people I knew didn't really understand IM2 until I explained that Tony thought he would be dead within a year. So, his erratic behavior fed on that problem. He couldn't figure out how to live. So, on the one hand, he would do a lot of reckless, self-destructive things because there really wasn't a point in going on. However, on the other hand, he wanted things to set up so his legacy would continue. The movie kept hinting at that (racing a formula one car; allowing Rhodey to "steal" his suit; making Pepper the CEO; et cetera). But the movie really didn't explain that part as well as I thought it could, thus a lot of people were confused by it.

Still, Jon Favreau is still consulting on IM3 (as well as being Happy), so I'm not sure it was a complete sweep.

It also might be that Shane Black is highly respected screenwriter, possibly the most accomplished one Marvel has hired besides Whedon, and figures they don't need a bunch of consultants.  Black did work on the IM1 script after all, so he's not a total newbie.
