Much better in these pictures. I Like the design, not the colour scheme/balance. When the first pictures of Captain America's costume were revealed for his first film, I "HATED" it! By the thime I saw the finished film, I liked it and compared to his Avengers costume I love it. Lets see what we get on screen. Who knows if there are enough complaints they might retouch in post production.

The fist time I saw these pics my head dropped to my desk. Now, after looking at the new armor for a while, I hate it less. There must be some reason in the film for this particular color scheme.

For some reason this reminds me of Buck Rogers. I think it's because old scifi had a lot of ugly things in them.

It looked better on the screen then in the exhibit hall.. But still not good.. The armors in this movie are ugly... Pretty bummed about this.. It did do that classic Granov pose from issue 76

If it looks better in low light, that would mean the less light there is the better it looks right? So then it will look best in no light...

Why would Marvel finally succumb to the equivalent of "bat-nipples"?
There is no need to change the armor up like that. Give it a new gadget, a redesigned outward look, go silver centurion, go stealth armor ... but this is hideous for no reason.
One of the things that made IM1 so successful is how true they stuck to the original armor ... this is just ... an eyesore.

Yup. The awful thing is that most of the movie armor changes are color scheme or slight redesigns (like the chestpiece). I thought the movies would go from the Mark 3, eventually to something as streamlines as the modular armor, but this latest entry is basically "Iron Man movie armor ala khaki". We should call it the "golf armor" because I expect to see him on the greens with it.

Could it be that they painted it that way, on purpose to throw people off... a la a red (or gold in this case) herring?
What I see when I look passed the color scheme is amazing. Its sleeker, like the suitcase armor, but at the same time, looks far more capable and powerful. The physiology of the armor is very evolved over all past versions. Head to toe, this armor looks less like a piece of armor, and more like an inventors attempts to design something robotic, using the human body as a template. Everything looks far more refined and more successfully integrated than before. The helmet with its indentation accents along the faceplate and newly designed "ear pieces"...wow. Those intake ports along the sides of the chest and the way the abdominal flex plates are laid in look fantastic. the fact that it doesn't have the "Iron Underwear" that the previous units had makes it look far more streamlined. The details man... the details. Personal choice of references here... but this iteration of the armor looks to have progressed from Corvette to Ferrari in terms of refinement, integration and craftsmanship. I do have to say that, googling pictures of the armor in lower light settings... it doesn't look as objectionable as it does in the press releases. Still... I prefer the ole school color scheme, or the Silver Centurion, over this. Who knows what they'll do now that they've debuted it and received a fanboy response.

It's not the design of the armor that sucks, it's just the TERRIBLE paint job on it.. It's definitely would look cool in the more familiar Red and Gold color scheme

Leave the chest gold but paint the midsection (abs) red and it'll work.

Fully agree. Taking the sports car analogy, a sports car looks great, but if you get it in an ugly color, all that sleek, sexiness means nothing and it becomes an eyesore. This is that sports car ruined by a poor choice of paint job.

Maybe this is just another specialty armor, like the Mark V. The deep sea armor in the comics was mostly gold. Maybe...
If this is what we have to look at through most of the film, I'll be a tad upset.
