Anyone excited for this? I am, but not super-pumped, like say Iron Man 3 or The Dark Knight Rises.

It's funny how Peter Jackson got thinner as he kept making films, while George Lucas got fatter as he kept making films.   Undecided

The quality of Jackson's films is better too.   Wink

I still get chills looking at that first trailer.  I'm hoping it'll be a knockout again.  Since it's coming out near my anniversary, anyway.  Grin

in grade seven my first year of high school, I discovered & fell absolutely in love with this book. (I'd only been reading "o.k." sci fi at that point in my life) I really wanted to see this on the big silver screen, & here we are over two decades later. I'm so giddy. I also won a copy of LOTR in ninth grade in a creative writing contest so you can only imagine the joy I felt at seeing the book come to life. Yes, there were parts that were omitted, & changed but that's the nature of both hollywood & good books turned to movies. Like a comic, it's not always easy (read NEVER) to transfer the soul of a beast like to another medium. PJ did a fine job, work to be very proud of. I can't WAIT to see this one.

I think it's funny that Gandalf is so prominent on the poster of a story where the hobbit is the actual star. Obviously the studios feel Ian MacClellen has a lot more name recognition than whoever plays the hobbit.
