I don't know how many of you read or care for the Ultimate universe but Newsarama has an exclusive preview of a new suit of armor Ultimate Tony Stark will be adorning that is "alien-inspired".

At the very least I'm sure you'd like to take a gander: http://www.newsarama.com/comics/ultimates-iron-man-new-armor.html

I've been following the Ultimate universe stuff this time around.. I don't hate the armor, but I don't love it either.. It's interesting.. Will have to see what it can do before I decide how much I like/hate it.

Why does everyone think his armor needs all these lights around it thou?!

Makes no difference to me. I haven't followed the Ultimates version since it once again involves a Tony Stark who's more than human. These writers don't seem to get that a big part of IM's appeal is that ,physically at least, he's an ordinary man wearing an extraordinary suit. And 1 of his own invention no less! So I'm not in favor of reading stories about a superhuman Stark.

One of my biggest beefs with extremis...

I don't mind this approach to the armor or the character because this is what the Ultimate line was created for: to take the heroes we know and spin them on their head using radical ideas.

I had a real soft spot for the Ultimate stuff for years, and a couple years back I filled in my entire collection and basically built a full run of every Ultimate book from the original launch lines. Then they went with the 2nd wave stuff and I haven't bought an Ultimate series since maybe the first Ultimate New Ultimates (which is a ludicrous title).

I loved the Ultimates and Ultimates 2 stories, and 3 as well, tho maybe a step down, and I consider them to be among the best stories i've read in many years and probably from there launch to this very day. But yes, Marvel did screw up thier Ultimate Universe and right now, it's a whole awful mess.

The ultimates passed me by. When I saw the first ultimate Iron Man I thought "What the Hell is that"??
It never grabbed me, any of the ultimates. I have since bought the TPB of the original ultimates, mostly because of the "Avengers" et al all (in fact a lot of the current Marvel movie universe) drawing so much on the "Ultiverse".
Its not bad, I may even go back and have a proper look at the Ultimate Iron Man run. The new Armour?
Extremis crossed with I'm not sure, an art deco lampshade?!?! (well the helmet anyway)   Grin Grin

I got the first TPB of the Ultimate IM series. Wasn't impressed and haven't looked into getting the Ultimates at all. Don't plan on starting either.

It's amazing how the majority of fans thought the armor was ugly, and after years of what i can only imagine was denial, Marvel finally changed it, only to make it more streamlined and ditched the grey. Sometimes, they really don't get it.

The ultimate armor has already gone through a few changes, I think.  When "Ultimates 3" hit, the armor looked like a beefed up version of the classic red and gold.  The original Ultimate armor is long gone.

I haven't kept up with it, but I was under the impression that the Ultimate Universe was currently doing well.  I know that it got a soft reboot of sorts after "Ultimatum" because it had gotten too convoluted, and I heard that it has currently been streamlined and manageable.  I know many are loving both Ultimate Spider-Man and X-Men right now.  Not sure about New Ultimates.

I've read pretty much everything Iron Man, Thor, Cap & avngers related in Ultimate Universe. I'm even reading (through a very kind friend) the current run. Which I'm not overly impressed with. I originally thought the Ultimate Iron man design was fairly ugly, but by the time I'd gotten through Ultimate Human, Ultimatum & Ultimate Armor wars I kinda liked it. In New Ultimates Vs Avengers he started sporting a suit remarkably close in appearence to the movie Mk III. He's kept that until this current run.

I was never too big of a fan of the Ultimate Armor, So I didn't mind it too much that he started using the movie armor.  The only Ultimate titles that I've read tho were the Iron Man runs, and Ultimates.  I'm going to eventually get Ultimates 2, but after that I don't think I'm gonna back log any more.
