This news made me register for this site just so I can say how much I cannot wait for him to leave. This is such great news.
Welcome to the site! stick around, we can always use more opinions And yes, this is indeed great news. Thanks! I plan on sticking around.. Long time Iron Man fan here. Got into the character back in 1995 (or was it 1994?) when the cartoon was on. I was 4 at the time.. Stark and Iron Man ever since.

I think it'll be unanimous amongst Iron Man fans that it's good Matt Fraction is leaving the book.
Fraction may have been good writing Thor or X-Men, but Iron Man was not his type of superhero.

Truth be told, I don't like his Thor either.. I'm a pretty big fan of Thor too.. Hawkeye is probably my second favorite hero, and with Fraction writing his new series, I'm pretty nervous about that too.

I was on the Marvel boards for quite a while and there were a number of people who liked him. Of course, I think they also thought Civil War was an accurate portrayal of Stark.

I learned to stay clear of the marvel boards when they released the image of the Mark 1 before Iron Man came out and someone replayed with a "wtf he never had an armor like this in the comics, so stupid" type reply. I've noticed that people who aren't regular Iron Man readers are really into Invincible Iron Man. Let's not forget that when the Knaufs took the book over, it was really underperforming. It wasn't until the movie came out, and the launch of Invincible Iron Man that the books started to sell more copies

I dont know, I think Mandarin here will be a bit disappointed. Hopefully the new writer will bring back the awesomeness of the Iron Man series, and deliver stories everyone will love again.

I think the reason new readers liked him is because they hated Stark from CW and Fraction played upon that, making Stark look bad at every turn.

I just think it was a total lack a familiarity to the character. No one went into Fraction's Iron Man with an understanding of the character, so they think this is it, and they eat it up and ask for seconds. Truth be told, after the first issue of the run I thought "Not bad." I figured it would get better as he got more experience writing the character. It went the total opposite direction though for sure.

You aren't alone. I have a friend who loves the current run, but thought CW was the worst story ever. He actually tossed the trade in a campfire. He also says he's done with IM once Fraction leaves.

I just don't understand what's likeable about his run. Boring, anti-climatic, drawn out and he completely devolved the character.

The one thing I will credit him for is that a lot of villains that have been MIA pop up during his run.. But their redesigns are god awful..

I was actually pretty excited to hear that the Fraction was pulling together a bunch of old Iron Man foes for this last arc.
Then half of them are new people taking over the old roles. And the battles are pretty much yawners.
His plots have potential. However, their execution leaves much to be desired.
