Eh...I can live with the armor, even though I don't care much for it. What I can't stomach is Fraction's dialogue for Iron Man:
"This is Stark. Did...Did I kill the Phoenix? Because it looked amazing and--"
Really? Terrible, terrible dialogue. Unfortunate, too, because the script on the first story page was actually pretty decent stuff.

That part really kills it, the following part isn't great either

before Fear Itself, didn't Marvel say they were done with events for awhile after Siege? Then they go on and not only do two more, they give them to Fraction..

They did, but I think there is too much money to be made. AvX is toned down in that it's only the Avengers and X-Men and not all of the Marvel U, but granted that's most of the Marvel U anyways. Half their problem is what follows. They keep saying how everything is supposed to change and nothing does. CW just had the pro-reg guys chasing the anti-reg every month, only to have them and let them go because they were still doing good. Dark Reign was supposed to be the bad guys in charge, but all they did was plot covertly as normal and the Dark Avengers did all the things the normal Avengers did. The Heroic Age was supposed to be about going back to classic themes of heroes being heroes, and it was just the same as always. They keep touting change but nothing changes, making the aftermaths useless. I long for the days of the Infinity series...

They did, but I think there is too much money to be made. That's of course the whole reason they do it from the beginning. I always hated how at panels they would say "You vote with your dollars, if you don't want events, don't buy the event books." The problem is when the come in an effect all the titles we're reading anyway, so to understand what's happening in any of your usual books, you're forced to get them.

Marvel won't stop the events because they fear the minute they do, DC will come out with one and take the lead in sales. DC does them because they fear if they don't they will fall farther behind (or perhaps it's vice-versa post 52). It wouldn't be so bad if these events didn't take half a year to come out. I think Marvel made a good move putting out AvX every two weeks. It feels like it just started even though it's already at the halfway mark.

I heard that New 52 is falling off hard tho, even among some of the core titles.

If you look at the top 20 bestselling books for May, DC had 11 books, but 9 were Batman related titles. That isn't much different than before. On the Marvel side, both AvX issues that came out that month came in at #1 and #2 and outsold the highest selling DC book by 40,000 copies. That's why they keep doing events.

Which is why events, which have no bearing on continuity, are the rule now and not the exception. Actually, Marvel can't spell continuity anymore....

There's a lot of new costumes there, is this the 616 universe? That nick Fury is the Samuel L Jackson inspired Ultimate version leads me to believe this may not be 616.

It's 616. He was given Roger's old costume at the end of Battle Scars.

It's 616. He was given Roger's old costume at the end of Battle Scars. To further clarify, that's Fury's kid. The original Fury is still around and working behind the scenes as usual. Lately he's been helping Bucky and Black Widow.

That makes more sense than. For the most part I like the new costumes. I'm guessing IM's suit is just shadowed that it looks black instead of red, but being from Pittsburgh I'm all for a black and gold suit

I have a huge problem in Pittsburgh right now lol.. (usually I love it, been there twice in the last two years for a Devils and Penguins games) Also, it just looks like a blacked out version of his current armor.. This is probably something like "The Worthy" image they released during fear itself.
