Something I think is important to point out, is that we aren't the only ones who are complaining about Fraction´s work.

This blog have some reviews analyzing Fractin´s writing. The reviews are mostly about his work on Thor.

I agreed with many things the author says, especially in this one:

though Mandarin, I think your really just trolling and I'm feeding you because it is more fun than reading these comics

No one is trolling.  Different voices and opinions is the purpose of this board.  We all love this character or else we wouldn't be here.  Personally, I like this back and forth.  It actually makes me want to go back and read this run from the beginning to analyze the different story beats.  Somethings are always better in hindsight.

Mandarin, Ralph, Brian, Borjigin, please continue.

It certainly doesn't feel like that. It feels like I give an explanation for something then I'm told "No it's stupid" and then given a list of nit pick responses that don't address my actually points and would be completely overlooked if they were enjoying the book.

For a project I'm working on, I recently read most of Fraction's run from the beginning. Plot-wise, it's not quite as bad as I'd originally thought. There are some iffy characterizations, to be sure, and I also feel that one of the failings of the run is stretching it out too long. If the storylines had been condensed into about 1/3 to 1/2 of the current length, I think the arcs would have more bounce, more action, and wouldn't receive nearly the criticism.  There are some good story beats in there. They're just hard to find amongst all the fluff and padding.

But, the mischaracterizations are a big thing. I don't really like the Tony Stark in these stories. He's off character far too much to be the role model I used to look up to as a kid and young adult. It's not my aging sensibilities, either, because I get that 12-year-old kid feeling from watching RDJ's characterization in the movies. I don't like the way Fraction writes Tony Stark. That's my major quibble with his run. If his characterization was more in line with what we've known Tony Stark to be, people would probably be more forgiving of the other issues with the series.

Notably, this is not just a problem with Iron Man. I see mischaracterizations across Marvel's entire line from time to time, unfortunately.
