Has anyone else managed to see or pick up the 6" Marvel Legends Extremis Iron Man figure?
http://www.actionfigurepics.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/SDCC-2011-Marvel-Legends-Iron-Man-001.jpg

He also comes with a blue stealth variant, so be on the lookout for him.

Also, this figure will be rereleased later at some point in the Iron Man Legends toy line (The same which gave us 6" Titanium Man and Crimson Dynamo) with a darker red and gold color scheme.

I haven't found the regular or stealth Extremis Iron Man Marvel Legend figures yet, but was curious as to whether any of you other Iron Man fans have, and if so, what do you guys think of him?

Haven't seen them anywhere other than ebay yet. It seems to me that these figures migrate from the west to the east. When they first show up on ebay they seem to ship from Hong Kong, then the Philippines and finally California. I live in Ohio so I see them anywhere from 3 - 6 months after they show up on the mainland. at least in my experience.

I think I heard of these hitting as far as Ohio on the Fwoosh forums (I could be wrong, mind you), but they're mostly showing up at Toys R Us (for $3 more than usual at $18 as opposed to $15). I've only just heard about them hitting some Targets, and haven't heard of any Wal*Mart sightings yet. Other online retailers like Big Bad Toy Store have these, too, last I checked.

Even 15 bucks for a 6" action figure is awful, but almost 20 is beyond words...

Tell me about it, man. And this isn't the first time Toys R Us has price gouged, either. When they had 6" Iron Man Legends versions of Titanium Man, Crimson Dynamo, and Initiative War Machine before anyone else, they had the prices jacked up to $18. When they finally started hitting places like Target and Wal*Mart for $12-$15, TRU remarkably had them for $15, too. Imagine that.

That's why I'm holding out for Wal*Mart to get these new Marvel Legends and Iron Man Legends.

Speaking of 6" Iron Man Legends, have you seen this post Armor Wars armor coming soon?

Ya...  Interestingly enough we did get the Classic II before in the Showdown's line, and then in the Iron Man movie line, which was cool. If I find the Iron Men cheap, then I might pick them out. Generally speaking though, I'm done with 6" figures. I haven't had my collection displayed in two years now anyway.

What made you quit the 6" scale, may I ask? I myself could never bring myself to give up the scale and fully convert to the 3 3/4" scale.

What made you quit the 6" scale, may I ask? I myself could never bring myself to give up the scale and fully convert to the 3 3/4" scale.

Mostly space reasons, but quality, overexposure and price were factors too, basically in that order.  I think that the 6" scale started off nicely with the first, very surprising Marvel Legends wave. For a while, the line actually improved nicely over the years, but then inconsistency crept in and a lot of the Legends and 6" scale stuff in general declined in quality plus or minus some time around the M.O.D.O.K. wave.  The line just started to disappoint and also become overpriced.

Then Hasbro released the Iron Man movie line in 6" scale and generally speaking that line was awful. I've got a full collection both loose and MOC and in retrospect it was an incredibly disappointing set. Iron Man's sculpt was never very good, awkwardly skinny, and were retooled or reused more times than I can count.  The result was a line of re-issued phony armors, no real diversity representing the movie or character, and junky toys that started hitting 14 dollar price points unnecessarily.

Of course, this is mostly an Iron Man centric point of view, but it's no secret that the Legends line and other Marvel 6" scale stuff started suffering greatly as well.  Take these factors into account with the (long overdue) re-release of 3 3/4" lines and it's sort of a no-brainer.  I also only display my stuff, and while ten million Iron Men makes for a cool display, ten million 6" Iron Man that are all flimsy, skinny and only vary by color takes up a lot of space that could otherwise hold a nicely organized, diverse 3 3/4" set.

To this day, I'd say that the closest thing that we've ever gotten to a perfect Iron Man figure with a great sculpt and reliable joints was probably the Secret Wars classic Armor figure from the 80's.  After that, a couple of the Iron Man 2 3 3/4" figs have some merit to them.

Lastly, I'm big on uniformity as well. But, at this point, with the disparity in quality, sculpts and (ironically) scale in the 6" line, your collection looks less like a 6" set and more like a jumble of random toys all over the place.  There is some of this in the 3 3/4" line (clearly your Iron Man 2 Mark III toy is in different proportion than your '93 Marvel Universe Iron Man), but it isn't as bad looking when on display.

You make many valid points, IMJ.

There was indeed a decline in quality product, for me, at least, when Hasbro first took over the liscense from Toy Biz in early 2007 (Starting with the Annihilus Series). They had a few hits and misses in the 6" scale for me since then. The Fin Fang Foom Build-a-Figure was a massive hit with me (Despite the lousy $15 price when move Marvel Legends were $10-$12).

Figures like Hasbro's Ultimate War Machine were some of the worst figures ever. Period. I mean, they basically took, the Ultimate Iron Man figure, recast and repainted it in black, silver, etc AND instead of making a unique headsculpt for Jim Rhodes underneath, they re made the same Ultimate Tony Stark head, cast it in brown plastic (So anyone who looked under the helmet saw what appeared to be an African American head sculpt). They added no paint to the head and stuck a bunch of glue on the it and put the Ultimate War Machine helmet on it so it would stay and so most people wouldn't bother taking the helmet off.

As terrible as that was, it looks like with their Marvel Legends relaunch, they are trying to avoid past pitfalls, yet they continue with a lot of the same old mistakes simultaneously. For example, they continue the trend of making Iron Man too small, in height, but mostly in figure thickness (Most likely to save money in plastic). NO WAY could there be a guy in a suit of metal armor under there (This trend started with Toy Biz's last Iron Man, the Modular Armor from the Mandarin Face-Off two-pack). I'll know more on the Extremis Iron Man when my order arrives.

They do seem to be trying, as I said, with improved paint, sculpt, and articulation in most areas (See the modern Heroic Age Thor for what I'm talking about).

I was pleased for the most part with Hasbro's 6" Wal*Mart Iron Man 2 figure line. The figures were a tad thicker (Not much more or quite enough mind you), and the sculpting was pretty good. War Machine and the Mark IV with alternate sunglasses wearing Tony Stark head were awesome figures, and I proudly display them in a movie themed armory.

I simply cannot get into the 3 3/4" scale Hasbro figures because they have less attention to detail, sculpt, paint and, most importantly, articulation. I had a classic red and yellow Iron man armor with the two points on the face mask (He came with a Hank Pym Goliath figure that was huge and fit in with Marvel Legends, hence why I got him). Upon getting him, I immediately popped his head off (It snaps back on) and "fed" him to my Fin Fang Foom. I have since found him all other Marvel Universe related figures I had a new home (I gave them to my younger sister, so at least someone will get some enjoyment out of them). I'm too used to collecting 5" and later 6" figures.

I always wondered what became for the Madam Mask figure. It was brought up in a post on here a while ago, and I have yet to see the figure itself. Ive been fortunate enough to stumble across a few Iron Man figures, but other IM characters are rarely seen here Sad

Well, Madame Masque will be released this year in the second series of Hasbro's Marvel Legends relaunch (The series where you build Arnim Zola). She and the rest of her second series cohorts are already starting to hit some places early (Series one hasn't even hit everywhere yet!), including ebay.

You may want to grab her when you first see her, since Hasbro is trying a new technique called "running changes" where they take an existing figure, and retool him or her into a new character with alternate Build-a-Figure pieces. Madame Masque will eventually become Madame Hydra. No one knows how this is going to work out, so many fans are speculating that Madame Masque and Thunderball are the figures to grab first, before they become Madame Hydra and Piledriver, respectively. The alternate BAF pieces they will come with are alternate Arnim Zola pieces that allow you to make the Zola body Red Skull used in Captain America reborn, complete with Red Skull's face on the chest screen.

With the recent releases of 6" Titanium Man and Crimson Dynamo in the Iron Man toy line, and now Extremis Iron Man and Madame Masque in the Marvel Legends line, it's a great time for Iron Man fans.

Guess I'm going to have to eat my words- stopped by the local TrU (had noticed they had been preparing to do a reset last weekend) and came across the new Legends figures. There were only three left on the j-hook. Lo and behold two of them were the Iron Man Extremis Stealth variant. Needless to say, I snatched them both up.

If anyone wants one, let me know. Not looking to gouge anybody so cost + shipping.

Congrats on the find! What do you think of the figure itself? I myself just ordered an Extremist Iron Man figure from bigbadtoystore.com who was selling it through Amazon. I have no idea which version they'll be sending me, though, as collectors have all reported getting both versions through online sellers.

Overall, the sculpt and paint job are very nice. There are a few mold seams & burs but they are relatively minor. Proportionally, the figure seems accurate to how it is portrayed in the books (re. pretty much skin tight Grin). I'm pretty happy with it.

That's great to hear, especially about the paint n' sculpt. Makes me want my order to get here all the faster, though!  Cheesy

Question: Did Tony only ever have a stealth Extremist armor in Marvel vs. Capcom 3?
