Damn.  Looks like Microsoft has failed yet again.  What was that ticking sound in the background?

That would be a byproduct of shooting video with an extremely cheap camera...

Had Microsoft not extended the warranty for the "General Hardware Failure" issues, I'm not sure I'd pay to get it fixed at this point (well, that and the fact that I really, really, REALLY want to play Mass Effect).

I just realized what the crappiest thing is about this...I haven't watched the Iron Man Con footage since it went out. That was actually my reason for even turning it on that morning.

Time to rectify not seeing it in so long though...

I guess I should count myself lucky.  I bought one of the launch machines and I have yet to have any problems (knock on wood).  Well, a corrupted gamesave somehow screwed my entire hard drive and I had to reformat it a few months back, but that wasn't Microsoft's fault.

Sorry to hear you're having problems, Karyyk.

I'm also eagerly awaiting Mass Effect.

I got a nintendo Wii in June, and I feel that it really has the potential to be the best selling Game console of 2007 and 2008.  It's cheaper than a PS3, but is more revolutionary than an XBox 360.  That, and the Wii has no red ring of death! Grin

How do you come to that conclusion?
A Loser will be if i was defeated, or unsucessful, a failure, a washout, unpriviledged, flop, lemon, underdog, or a bummer.
On the contrary my dear friend...
My electronic equipment can provide me with the best sound fidelity  and higher video resolution than most items on the market, a superior experience on game control, a backup and more useful OS called linux, a less cluttered wireless setup, etc; means that i am on the front row of digital entertainment.
I would like some facts about those allegations of yours.
You get what you pay for!
On this topic it has been discussed  that the OP has had 2 systems failed on him since his purchase. He has a system that is KNOWN to have problems, thats why MS suck it up and gave all of them a 3 yr warranty, instead of the original.
I just probe him an alternate solution to his problems, and a much troublefree experience.

I'll eventually get a PS3...when there are games available that I want to play. I know it's coming, but it's not there yet. Same deal with the PSP (Castlevania: Dracula X being the straw that broke the camel's back).

I've generally never been the kind of guy to put his eggs in one basket, and that holds true when it comes to videogame hardware. I have the 360 and Wii, and eventually, the PS3.

I'm extremely disappointed in the 360 at this point (Microsoft needs to get in the habit of conducting thorough quality control...might work with software, but hardware is a whole new game, although I have never had a problem with the original XBOX), and if I had to pay money out-of-pocket to have it repaired, I'm not sure I'd go through with it. That being said, there are games I want to play (and continue playing) that will only be on the 360 (every system has its exclusives), so in response to purchasing a PS3 being an alternative solution, it simply wouldn't be in my case. I won't be playing Mass Effect on the PS3, and judging from my past experience with BioWare games (Baldur's Gate, Knights of the Old Republic & Jade Empire), I don't want to miss it. 'nuff said.

Honestly, I'm not one to fight a console war.  I've played on them all, and they're all good.  I bought the original Xbox because it had a couple games I wanted to play and because the name sounded cool.  I bought a launch 360 and haven't had any problems yet.  I don't have the funds to afford a PS3 or I'd have one of those, too.

In a somewhat related note, I ended up ordering a PS3 from Amazon.com yesterday. Between 8 free Bluray movies, free shipping and no tax, the time seemed right. No eating out this week...heh.
