yeah I finished playing shadow of the colosuss and it was an amazing game for a PS2 title.
currently I am playing bio shock and that game is one of the best I've ever played. It gives me chills playing it the atmosphere is very creepy. It has good story and the art deco design is perfect for the story. Good thing I play with the lights on.

I really need to Maddrox myself, I don't have enough time to play games anymore. I do have Shadow of the Colossus and started it. Truly a stunningly rendered game. I just borrowed X-Men: The Next Dimension from a friend. Hope to check it out tonight. Haven't played a strict fighter for awhile.

As far as creepy, atmospheric games, I heartily endorse Thief II: The Metal Age and Thief III: Deadly Shadows. Play these games with the sound up and the lights out and tell me you don't get goosebumps and chills.

I'd recommend Eternal Darkness. We used to play that in my second year of uni with the lights off and curtains drawn, and every five minutes or so we'd have to pass the controller to the next person as we got too scared to play.

Also - excellent game for showing you what insanity feels like.

Did anyone else get The Orange Box?

No Half Life 2 or Team Fortress fans? C'mon, I need to geek out about it with someone!  Tongue

I'm considering it.  Never played any of the games before, but the premise sounds quite interesting.  However, my girlfriend puts a ban on personal purchases between October 1st and the big ho-ho-ho holiday, so if I did go out and buy it now, I wouldn't live to play it.

That said, I've already got Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect on my list to Santa this year, so that one might have to wait until after the holidays.

I'll geek out with ya' Mark. The first Half-Life was an awesome game, very good single player game play, storyline and atmosphere. Was one of the first PC games I purchased outside of the Star Wars universe.

If I had more time...

My older brother got it, he says it's really cool but he likes the first Team Fortress better. Speaking of my older brother, he also reserved Mass Effect. Cheesy

I'm currently playing Soul Calibur III since I've been in the mood after a few weeks ago I found out they were making the innevitable 4th installment (though sadly I'll need a next gen consol to play it). Good stuff though.

I've just started Super Paper Mario and Trauma Centre: Second Opinion, both for the Wii. Super Paper Mario is awesome; it's like they took all of the boring bits of Paper Mario out and added Extra Fun.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion by Bethesda Softworks (PS3): My first proper PS3 game ($20), this one is huge, and honestly, a bit overwhelming. There's so much to do and so many things that can go wrong (such as when a guy who hired me to spy on others comes to believe that I must be in league with me and comes after my head) that you honestly don't know where to start most of the time. I never really was able to get into Morrowind (the game's XBOX predecessor) because of that, and while it's minimized a bit here (the main quest is a bit more linear), there are still plenty of ways to get lost. This is also one of the better-looking games that I've played of late, so that 'Wow' factor almost ensures that you'll be sidetracked. I can see this game taking much of my precious little free time, but the fact that Mass Effect is on the way has allowed me to keep it at arm's length...that and having next to no free time of late.

Wii Sports by Nintendo (Wii): I keep coming back to this one regularly, if only for a few minutes. With as little time as I tend to have, I find myself being drawn more and more to casual games that don't demind my time in hourly blocks (part of me mourns this fact). The only real reason that I mention this here is because I finally rolled a perfect game in bowling, so that's that...

Check Mii Out Channel by Nintendo (Wii): This one isn't so much of a game, but like some of the other early Wii channels, it's an interesting diversion. Most have been disappointed by it, but trying your hand at some creative Mii-making is a bit fun, especially for the contests (my Mario is rather good I'd say). It gets bonus points for entertaining my nephew.

That's enough for now...

I've had this game since it came out in March of '06 for the Xbox 360, and I'm still not done running around.  I've logged over 500 hours on this game, and I constantly find new things to do.  I don't play it all the time anymore, but it's still my #1 game to play when I have the time.  Mass Effect may bump that down a notch if the advance reviews are to be believed.

My girlfriend and her son were playing this over the weekend.  I believe they would concur with your last sentence.

I actually just picked up Battlefront II ($12 and change), so I guess I should put it at the top of my queue.
