When the "Heroic Age" started (even though it was no different from any other Marvel age, but I digress) I started collecting both Secret and regular Avengers titles. But Since Fear Itself these books have totally fallen apart. I'm not sure what's going on in Secret Avengers anymore; who the villain is, what's their goal and most importantly, why is half the team not even mentioned anymore?

The regular Avengers title just unveiled the new roster, and it's bad. (This is the spoiler part for those who haven't read it yet). The new roster is:
Captain America (Rogers)
Iron Man
Red Hulk
Daisy Johnson
Noh-Varr
Hawkeye
Spider Woman
Vision
Storm

This seems like such an utter rag tag, ill fitted roster that I am rather shocked at the choices. Why bring back the Vision all of a sudden? I don't remember anyone mourning his loss. Storm's inclusion is baffling unless Marvel is just obsessed with having at least one X character on every title and Daisy Johnson? Really? Does anyone remotely care about this character? The Red Hulk I can at least see with Thor dead (for probably the next three months at least) but outside of Iron Man, Cap and Hawkeye (more for personality), is there any real interesting characters on this team? Will they finally do anything with Noh Varr? And what exactly happened to Ms. Marvel she was taken off the roster?

After seeing this roster I am likely going to drop this book. I just don't have much interest in these characters. Given how Secret Avengers is becoming more a mess by the issue, I will likely be dropping that title too.

It's kind of a shame really; these books started off so well and have just totally bottomed out.

I wish they'd go back to continuity.  I get tired of seeing people on multiple teams in multiple spots of the world.  They're joking about it with Wolverine, but now Storm is on two different coasts as well.

Why is Ms. Marvel not on the Avengers anymore? That's disappointing.

I've always viewed Ms. Marvel as Captain America's backup (leadershipwise). She's dedicated and has the training. She can kick ass and has been a leader before.

She's better than almost all the other secondary characters.

How is this different from any Avengers roster ever?  The book has always been 1-2 main Avengers and a host of B-C level characters.  Remember the days when the team was Black Knight, Doctor Druid, Thor, Vision, Namor, Captain Marvel (Photon) and Crystal?  Or howabout Cap, Black Widow, Vision, Sersi, Crystal, Deathcry, Swordsman (the 2nd one), Black Knight, and Hercules?  This lineup is no different and, in my opinion (obviously), a hell of a lot better than some past Avenger teams.  While I wasn't a big fan of Wolverine being on the team, Storm could actually work, and Daisy Johnson is a nice addition since many feared she would just disappear after Secret Warriors ended.  Personally, I can't wait to see this team in action and hope they actually survive more than an arc or two.

I agree this is how the Avengers have always been built. Honestly, I just don't take an interest in most these characters. I'd much rather have Thor than Red Hulk, and just about anyone over Vision and Spider Woman who hold no interest for me. Noh Varr could be cool if they actually did something with him and I don't care for Daisy Johnson at all in the little I've seen of her.

Typhon does bring up a neat point, the avengers have had very odd looking teams in the past. I dont have a lot of vol. 1 Avengers issues, but there were some heroes ive rarely seen elsewhere on the line up, and its good to see lesser known characters gget some face time. We dont have much interest in a few of these heroes....yet, but hopefully we'll take a little interest in them.
Otherwise, the main Avengers title has been great up to the Fear Itself tie-ins... which sorry, but were just pain boring and a watse of cash. The time-traveling arc with Ultron and Kang, then the Infinity gems arc, with IM playing ahuge role. Its a good series, and hopefully it will pick up again now.....

Outside of JRJR's art I was really enjoying the Avengers series. I'll give the new arc a shot but after that its up in the air. I have a feeling it's going the way of the Secret Avengers: starts really strong then falls apart.
