Just thought I'd share a couple random issues from I got from our local shop's Free Comic day as well as start a post on what some other fans picked up.
-I know most store usually have a sale on the back issues and I myself, normally use the chance to get a nice pile form some series that I like but normally don't put a lot of cash into (Thor, Cap, Fantastic 4, Avengers) With money a bit tighter this year I only got around to picking the 5-part story from Avengers vol 1 #273-277 where the Masters of Evil lead by Baron Zemo invade and take over the mansion. Great story and recommended for those whose need a good Avengers fix!! (no Iron Man in the story tho. But, great scenes with Cap, Hercules, the Wasp, and Thor!!)
-Anyone else pick up anything exciting worth sharing?

Free Comic Day has always confused me.

Is it to get new people into comics or readers into new issues they may not know they might enjoy?

Free Comic Day has always confused me.

Yes. Cheesy

It's never made much sense to me either, really, as far as getting new readers into comics.  I have seen a few stores who set up at the theater where the latest Marvel blockbuster is running on FCBD and give out copies of comics, but other than that, I can guarantee that no non-comic reader wakes up on the first Saturday in May and says, "I hear they're giving away free comics at that greasy pit-stain of a store downtown.  I'd better get down there!"

As a way to get current readers into new comics, however, it has worked.  Last year I got hooked into Irredeemable because of the FCBD issue.
