I guess Fraction must of been catching some flak at the office about the weight issue as a few ish's back, when he was taking Sascha Hammer out for a drive, he mentions that the suit now only weighs 25 lbs. Which still doesn't make sense. How did he get it that light? The only thing I can think of to cut down some bulk, & just a little bit of weight, is that it doesn't have internal padding anymore seeing as he's all superhuman now & wouldn't need it. But where does the rest of it come from?

Yes, that literally makes no sense. What the hell is it made of? If you cover someone in a layer of paper, it'll weigh more than 25 lbs. The mechanisms for the repulsors, the musculature, the systems to create force fields, all weigh something.

It seems in Fraction's universe, weight equals positivity.^.^

I kind of like the look of it. For a while the helmet bugged me on how it is pretty much a tracing of the film helm but it seems to be thing artists have copied since the first image of the suit was released and added to armors like the Classic armor and such. It's alright in my mind for the most part, when it does stuff like this, however...

I'm not a fan.
Neither am I, but it's supposedly 1 of the advantages of making the suit out of liquid metal. The suit can form any device that Tony can design in his head. So this will be THE armor 'til the end of time because really where do you go from here? This suit has an endless ability to self update. And on the subject of Fear, Tony is once again surprised at how fast something moves. Excuse me, but isn't he able to move at the speed of thought now as established in Extremis? Sheesh, Fraction can't even follow RECENT history! And before anyone mentions Skrull virus, the virus only disabled the Extremis "programming", as Tony said his body is still made up of Extremis grade "hardware", so all he had to do was re-write the "program" to let him use it.

Larocca appears to be trying to imitate the 90's Image artists renderings of ridiculous/powerful looking guns but is failing miserably at it. Of course, that's the the only thing he is failing at...

I say stick to the suit's basic premise, & leave the big the big  guns to Rhodey's armor that's what it was built for! ^.^

Like I've said before, this new suit showed a lot of promise as it followed Layton's design philosophy of making a sleeker armor as each suit progresses but the issue lies in the execution (or lack thereof.)  We've barely seen the armor do anything and the stuff we have seen makes Iron Man seem like he's an over-glorified Green Lantern with a suit instead of a ring.  Hence, we could say that he's even less in character now than he was with Extremis.  Since Larocca and Fraction are trying to make Iron Man into the Eidolon Warwear then we can only assume that the ghost of the 90's has indeed returned and Iron Man is right back in the same spot he was in with the Crossing.

Nano technology is the wave of the future and it just Tony being ahead of the curve again.

We all know that at some point this overpowered form of technology will have a problem that will be either damaging tony or lead to a danger to society as a whole and will have to be replaced with something else or as someone said earlier in this thread that tony is in his last suit ever... and seeing how the world ends in Oct or next december depending on which lunatic fringe you believe it just may be.

What really gets me about this whole deal is that this trip was unnecessary. There are those who say that Tony had taken the armor as far as it could go without upgrading the man inside. I say hogwash. The premise of Iron Man was that he used technology to compensate for the frailties of his all too human body & thereby show that you could be a superhero without being super, at least in the traditional sense. And as we all know technology is constantly improving, as was the armors. Frankly, there was never really a "wall" to limit what Tony could eventually in time get the suit to do. Case in point, the new War Machine, show of hands for those who think it's probably the most awesome armor to date (raising my right)! And yet the guy inside is as human as you or me, no need for Rhodey to spend time in an Extremis cocoon 1st before wearing it. But I'd bet good money it could take on any currently known threat. So I'd say that right now Iron Man 2.0 is the torch bearer for what Iron Man was & should still be.

I'm all for Nano-technology but only if a competent writer was behind it like Kaminski or Bob/Dave.  I said it was mainly in the execution of the writer that gets me and I personally agree with Iron Guy about how the new Bleeding Edge armor should have been handled.  Instead of making the armor come out of him like how Rhodey's Eidolon Warwear came out of another dimension we could have had a more grounded deployment method.

A lot of us old-school IM fans are also Hard SciFi fans.  We prefer our IM with a large dose of plausible or well explained rubber science (to quote Asimov).  I don't like the new outfit simply because it's undefined.  If the writer needs a gadget, it has it.  I think someone has beat me to the idea: Tony's not a Green Lantern.

Heh, that reminds of when I was on a Babylon 5 forum. One person posed the question of who would win between Star Trek's Federation and Babylon 5's Earth Alliance, and the one guy replied to the effect of if they fought in the Babylon 5 universe then Earth Alliance because their ships (and that universe) are based on real technology whereas the Federation ships pseudo-science would stop working immediately.

That is the one good thing about Iron Man up until Extremis: the armor was plausible albeit decades ahead of actual tech. Now its just made to impress yet fails utterly compared to the real tech based suits. Ironic that Marvel has been on a realistic kick in recent years yet the one character that was actually realistic they take it out.
