There seems to be some mystery surrounding just how plentiful the Quesada sketch cover for issue #500 is. It has been solicited as a 1 in 150 incentive (which is exceptionally scarce), but there is some debate about this because the book is all over eBay at the moment.

I've guessed that it's just the market equalizing as opportunistic sellers place their copies for sale while the iron is hot (ahem).  However, there's a grey area where one collector found some vague language indicating that a retailer could order "an extra copy for every 10 copies ordered". There's a lot of things that could mean, but in it's worst interpretation the scarcity of the 1 in 150 book is significantly diminished.

I don't have the time for the knee deep research, but if anyone wants to look into this books true print run, I'd be curious to know. I know at one point Iron Jedi and I had set up regular contact with the Iron Man family editor, but that was maybe 2 years ago now and I haven't heard from him in a while.  

Anyone want to give the current editor or Diamond an email and decipher this?

All I can tell you about this is my LCS had it for $60 the week it came out.  The owner wasn't there or I would have asked him.  If I get a chance, I'll ask about it when I pick up my books on Wednesday.

My LCS only had the blueprint variant, which was pretty disappointing but it saved me $6 I guess.
