The armor seems to come come out of his body in layers just by thinking about it apparently. I'm guessing that Fraction's going to get around the mass/volume issue by saying that the nanobots in Tony's body accesses the same dimension that Hulk & Giant Man get their extra mass from & so that's where he keeps the armor when he's not wearing it. If he goes that route all I can say is...lame. But I really don't see how else he could explain it. It's also occured to me that this is basically the last suit he'll ever make since the free comic showed that the bio-metal of the suit can reconfigure itself in any way that Tony can visualize. So it's every specialty suit rolled into 1 & to upgrade it all Tony has to do is visualize the design change in his head & give the execute command. Voila! upgraded armor.

Man, that is just not cool if that's the direction they are taking.

Well they said it was stored in the hollows of his bones, so its just like extremis. What exactly is the difference between extremis adnw hat he has now, other than its not called extremis, or anything for that matter?

The only difference now is that the ENTIRE new suit can be stored in his bones while Extremis only stored the inner mesh in the hollows of his bones. Extremis Tony still had to suit up while the new Tony can just bleed the entire armor right on to him. Henceforth, this new armor almost further dehumanizes Tony Stark and makes him even more invulnerable 24/7 since he can call the entire suit to him from his own body in a fraction of a second.

I guess that's why it's supposedly called the "Bleeding Edge Armor".

Man, they totally stole this idea from me! I created my own armored character back in the mid-to-late 90's who's armor worked almost exactly the same way.
I'm gonna sue!

So, he can store ALL 225 LBS. of metal that makes up his armor...IN HIS SKELETON??? I'm sorry but that's even more ludicrous than my idea & I can't suspend my incredulity enough to buy that! Even if you manage to compress the metal enough to make it fit (doubtful), you still have the mass issue. Also, how do you transpose the metal back & forth through the body tissues without doing damage? Iron Man before was a plausible hero to me. Granted his armor was super science, but that only meant that we couldn't build it RIGHT NOW! A hundred years from now is a different story. But now in IIM it's just gotten absurd, what's next, he can actually turn his body into the armor somewhat like Colossus? For the last 5 years they've been making his tech more & more unbelievable & that actually takes away from my enjoyment of the hero & the story. He's just not relatable to me anymore. I guess for the time being I'll stick to IM Legacy since at least for now that's the IM I've known & liked all these years.

Well IMJ there's magic, & then there's the laws of physics. Even magic (except for the comic book kind) has to obey physics. No magic act, no matter how incredible, actually violates it. It's all in how the eye perceives it. I'm sure that's the grain of salt that many will use in accepting these new abilities. "It's all in the eye of the beholder." But to my eyes this makes Tony no different than Dr. Strange or Thor. Someone who is to all intents & purposes as superpowered as they are. And believe it or not I don't read the comics about superpowered heroes. I've never read an issue of Dr. Strange or Thor or any of their ilk. I only am familiar with them through their interaction with Iron Man or War Machine over the years. That's just my particular quirk. If everyone else is enjoying the new paradigm that's fine, I hope they get a nice long run. I'm just saying that it's not my cup of tea.

So basically, this "Bleeding Edge Armor" is a combination of Extremis, SKIN and some Reed-tech like Unstable Molecules perhaps? I mean given that Tony said that Reed has everything he needed to construct the new armor from.

Yes, one can say that this armor is generation 2 Extremis with some concepts borrowed from unstable molecules and SKIN.

So in other words, Stark really didn't design this armor, he just stole ideas from everyone else in order to make it. Kind of the antithesis of the character in a way...
