So, is this the new post-Extremis armor (Model 37)? Keep in mind Romita drew the Extremis armor with a similar bulk, so it may not be intended to be big as it is depicted in this artwork.

I hope not. That design is total crap even accounting for JRJR's bulky style.. It looks like they mixed the neo classic with extremis. That said, given it looks like crap, it probably will be. Hopefully its just a specialty or intermediate.

John Romita Jr's., box-like art style, and that perspective, isn't a fair criteria to judge the new armor. Let's see more samples first.

True to an extent, but here are some design elements I am not liking that I see which likely arent a cause of JRJR's style: -Plated sections along the abdomen, wrists, neck and thighs. I really hate this look because it's very lowtech. I dont know why Marvel keeps saying the extremis is streamlined and advanced looking when this style makes it look completely disjointed. -the "straps" on the collar. I really dont know what those are but htey look awkward and ill fitting. at the same time, the gaps between those and the shoulder armor looks out of place -The faceplate looks too much like the classic armor. The big knobs for ears and the large mouthpeice dont look too good.

Romita Jr., (or whomever designed this armor) was possibly inspired by the linothorax: linen armor worn in the era of Alexander the Great.

JRjr's art hasn't looked good since his earliest work in the 1970s. He needs Bob Layton to balance him out, just like John Byrne really needs Terry Austin to finish his work. Romita Jr., (or whomever designed this armor) was possibly inspired by the linothorax: linen armor worn in the era of Alexander the Great. A lot of ancient armors had shoulder straps. http://www.schmitthenner.com/cuirass.htm

While it's hard to be certain given the detail differences, but this may indeed have be JRJR's rendition of the new armor.

Yeah, its hard to say. There are definitely similar design elements like the neck LED's and gap between the shoulders and the faceplate completely matches, but at the same time there are quite a few differences that cause sufficient doubt such as the legs, gauntlets and waists

While I like JRjr, he always draws the armor no matter what variation too clunky, it's a shame. It could very well be his rendition of the new armor.

I like his more than the others, even if it's blocky. Of course, his version of the Asgardian Destroyer is my favorite; one armor that should look like it has some bulk.

I've always been a fan of JRJr's rendition of the neo-classic suit with the bulk and the large jetboots mainly since it seemed like it could take a punch or a blast or two without damage and it showed in Armor Wars II and Dragon Seed! I always love it when an armor looks tough and actually shows it in the comics!
Anyway, I unfortunately have to admit that this apparent rendition of the new armor looks kind of generic and a little too bulky for its own good. The bulkiness was in back during the early 90's but it lost its touch ever since I saw his depiction of the Extremis armor in WWH.

JRjr's rendition of the classic armor was the definitive version of that armor for me. Sleek and fitted. But that was over 30 years ago. He seems to have lost his touch without a good inker. Especially in Armor Wars II, the armor just didn't look metallic. It looked more like colored concrete.

I think his work on Armor Wars 2 was pretty good. His work on X-Men in the 90's was pretty good too. Recently though, he's definitely slipped.
