This quote is from a news release from back in January regarding the upcoming Iron Man animated series to be released next year:

Quote
...Marvel is teaming with France's Method Films, who produced Nickeldeon's Skyland, on an all-CG series. "It's a very state-of-the-art show," Rollman said. "These guys do some really advanced-looking stuff."

Rollman said the series will not be set in the world of the Invincible Iron Man or Ultimate Avengers films -- or the upcoming live-action Iron Man movie. "We have a bible done and initial character development is about 60 percent done," Rollman said...

Personally, I'm really looking forward to it. I think Skyland is a really well produced show and I'm looking forward to see what they'll do for Iron Man. The timing is pretty good in a promotional sense as well since the live-action film will come out in the same year.

I'm cautiously optimistic about a new Iron Man cartoon series.  I wasn't totally thrilled with the recent direct-to-DVD movie, but it could have been far worse.  I'm always willing to give new stuff a chance, and that will be the case here as well.

Personally, I wish they'd get the animation team that did the major cut scenes from the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance video game to make a full-on Marvel animated movie.  Those scenes were a-frickin-mazing (though I don't believe Iron Man appeared in any of them!)

The 2006 Fantastic Four Animated series by Moonscoop out of France was fairly horrible.

While the animation is alright, they just don't have a feel for the characters IMO.

Then sadly they've been following the comics.

I wish I was kidding...

Yeah, I always thbought the FF was a terrible team in terms of just about everything. I've been waiting for the day where some supervillain just completely beats the ehll out of them. I've alwasy thought the Thing was one of the most over rated characters in comics period.

As for IM, I didnt think the movie was bad. It was actually ebtter the second time I watched it through. I am looking forward to the new series though.

I try to mentally place the Iron Man animated movie simply into the realm of "mindless entertainment" in order to make it enjoyable.  As an Iron Man fan, the animated movie was a significant failure.

I let the animated movie have a lot of slack because I was so happy to see Iron Man on a big screen(I'm a manager at a theater and played it on the big screen).  Although, the terrible "battle" between Iron Man and Mandarin made me furious.  But I did like the animation in the Fantastic Four cartoon, so I'm going to be hopeful for the new series.  I mean, hey, it can't be any worse then the 90's cartoon(Tony Stark mullet).

Hey now!  Mullet aside (really not something that ruined the show for me), my only real complaint was that Modok was played as comedy relief, when he could have been a badass villain.  Other than that, I thought they did a great job of adapting stories from the comics (Armor Wars; Hands of the Mandarin), and keeping Iron Man on target.  I'm hoping for a DVD release before the movie, like they did with the FF.

(mind you, this is the second season I'm referring to.  The first I'm working hard to forget)

Iron Man TAS (1994) season 2 was a lot better than the first IMO.

I liked the animation in season 1 better, but the story in season 2 was definitely better.

Wow, I think you're the first person I've ever heard say that.  Not that it's a bad thing, mind you.

That tends to be the common reaction.

Although I never got into the storylines - the MTV produced Spider-Man cartoons really got the action animation down.  It looked ... right.

If they can do the same treatment to IM ... I'm game.

I ended up watching the second season and part of the first season of the 1994-1996 Iron Man animated series on youtube.  I liked season 2 a lot better than the first in terms of every known aspect.  The voice acting was horrible in the first season, the plots were stupid and mindless, and Tony didn't have a mullet.  The only issue I had with the second season was that Julia Carpenter tended to act like a b*%ch half of the time due to that ruined wedding.
