Does anyone else think that Hollywood has become a haven for the creatively challenged. C'mon, do we have to continually canabalize previous material for remakes?!

That's a huge complaint. This summer is rife with sequels and one of my major points of contention at Screen Rant is the propensity of studios to do remakes.

I'm not a master of movie economics by any means, but it seems that studios place their bets on these because they may think they are solid guaranteed returns.... as if the logic is "well if the movie did well in the past, then it'll do as well with that same audience when we just update it and revisit it."

On another note, I saw the newest Texas CSM movie in the theater when it came out.  I hated that movie with a white hot passion.  And then I made the mistake of seeing "The Hills Have Eyes" and that movie just pissed me off.  What a waste of life... I do not like movies about killer hicks..... sheesh, I could go on about those forever, man.

THE THNG remake is pissing me off.  That movie, along with many others from the 1970s and early 80s, are classics and should NOT be touched.  WTF, Carpenter?!  The Fog remake?!  GAG!

EXACTLY! Look at what happened with The Fog, as you mentioned. Re-making beloved films or classics is a VERY dangerous thing to do. It rarely works.

Re-makes that DO work or those of original films that either weren't all that great in the first place (Ocean's 11) or that are very dated (The Thomas Crowne Affair).

Ocean's 13 was very fun. Don't go in expecting an action movie and you'll be pleasantly surprised. My oonly observation is that in some places the pace is just above languid.
