For epic moments, I'm going to suggest a strong but quiet image.

The 1st page of issue #200.  The doctor tells Tony that his friend is dead and Stark's only reply is "I know."  The stance, the look on his face, his choice of words, they all depict a man who has come to grips with what must be done.  He doesn't want to be Iron Man anymore, hell he was afraid of being Iron Man but none of that mattered anymore.  He knows now that Stane must be stopped and that he is the only man that can do it.  Notice in the following pages with Cly and Rhodey that Tony never has to be convinced to put on the armor again.  His mind is made up already.

Like I said, quiet but that panel has a lot of power.  Plus it sets up one of the greatest and most iconic IM fights ever.

Typhon, I know this is a really late follow-up (I didn't notice this thread until now), but I completely agree with everything you wrote. Beautifully said.

Late to the party, but:

- Feats Of Strength
IM knocks out the Hulk, around issue v. 1, #132.

- Displays of raw power
How is this different from "Feats of Strength"? Well, aside from the Hulk moment, there's v.1, #197, when IM hooks up to a power plant to defeat that guy on the flying horse (sorry, can't remember his name).

- High Flying Adventure (in-the-air action scenes)
IM v. the Soviet jets, v. 1 #119 (although I really love the scene mentioned in #118, too, where Tony ahs to change into the armor after being thrown from the SHIELD Helicarrier).

- Suspenseful moments
Who is it on the stretcher after Circuits Maximus is blown up? (end of v.1, #199) Also-- Rhodey puts on the armor and then says, "When I put this helmet on, I'll *be* Iron Man! Then what??" (end of v.1, #169).

- Funny Moments
I mentioned Tony's date at McDonald's (v.1, #130) on another thread. In issue #137 or 138, there's also a nice bit of interplay with Rhodey as they try to break into Madame Masque's headquarters (I think Tony even mentions the old SNL "Land Shark" routine).

- Moments of Horror
Captain American yells at Tony and kicks away his bottle, and Tony crawls to it, a pitiful wreck in a flophouse, v. 1, #172-- one of the saddest as well as scariest moments of degradation for the character.

- Epic Moments
Gotta second what was said earlier about IM #200-- the final showdown with Stane.

- Iron Man saves the day
It's a sentimental choice, just because it was the first Iron Man comic I ever read-- defeating the Titanium Man on the ice rink by Rockefeller Center (and hearing the cheers of the crowd for the first time since he accidentally killed the Ambassador), v.1, #135.

I think that funny moment was from issue #138 bdog.  Anyway, those are good choices and I agree that all of them should be finalists.

Hope I'm not too late!

- Feats Of Strength
Iron Man #132:  IM waylays the Hulk.

- Displays of raw power
Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #4:  Mister Fantastic juices up Iron Man's armor enough to blow the whole side out of a mountain!

- High Flying Adventure (in-the-air action scenes)
Iron Man #118: Tony is tossed from the SHIELD Helicarrier and has to don his armor before he hits the ground.

- Suspenseful moments
Last panel of Iron Man #215, with Rhodey on fire!
Last page of Iron Man #124, when Justin Hammer causes IM to kill the Carnelian Ambassador with a repulsor blast.

- Funny Moments
Iron Man #221: Quote from Iron Man, "Blast!  That holographic image projector cost a fortune!  Hope it's still deductible under the new tax laws!"
Iron Man #150: IM and Doom working on the device to bring them back to the present, each thinking how brilliant the other is.
Iron Man #250: When IM wields Excalibur, and Doom says, "This is not the way to get on my good side!"

- Moments of Horror
Last panel of Iron Man #199: Tony looking under the sheet to see who had been killed by the bomb.  The wait between issues never seemed longer!
Last page of Iron Man #242:  Tony just having been shot by Kathy Dare.  It's a beautiful, haunting image by Bob Layton.

- Epic Moments
Last page of Iron Man #191:  Tony firsts puts on the recovery armor to stop Rhodey.
Last page of Iron Man #169:  Rhodey gets ready to put on the Iron Man armor for the first time.

- Iron Man saves the day
Iron Man #300:  Tony swoops in after the rest of the Iron Legion gets whooped.

Once again, all good choices Roger!  Say, are you seriously able to pull Iron Man quotes like that off of the top of your head of any issue out there without looking at an issue?  That's really kind of creepy if that were true to be 100% honest.

The quote about the holographic projector I pulled from memory, because that's always been a favorite.  Iron Man's in the middle of being shot at by the Ghost, and he's worried about this piece of equipment.  I did double check to make sure I was quoting right, though! Smiley

As for the others, they had just stuck out in my mind, but I had to look them up for specifics.

I'm not that creepy...Cheesy

Oh, it's okay.  It's good that I know you're still human and not some sort of computer that has every Iron Man quote stored on a spreadsheet. Cheesy
