Picked this game up for the PS3 this Friday and now that I've messed around with it enough I thought I'd post my view of it.

It's ok.

I know that's not much but there isn't a whole lot to say about this game that hasn't been said when the demo came out.  If you liked the demo then you will not regret buying the game.  If you love Iron Man and thought the demo was ok then you will not regret buying the game BUT you may regret buying it for $60.00.  The graphics are good but nothing spectacular and the framerate slows when there are too many objects on the screen.  The missions so far all basically consist of blowing up one objective then moving on to the next to do the same and are thereby a little repetitive.  This may change since as you progress you can buy upgrades and outfit your armor with different configurations which is very cool.

Air combat is fun but fighting on the ground is sloppy and needs work.  Voice work is good with RDJ, Howard, and Shaun Toub (sp) all reprising their roles.  Stane sort of sounds like Bridges but the lady voicing Pepper is way off.  The game claims it follows the movie but makes a number of very noticeable changes as it brings in the Maggia group from teh comics and practically cuts Raza out all together.

Bottom line so far: It's *** star game out of 5.  Not great but not bad.  I recommend trying to get it for a bargain.  For a 1st game its not bad and for a movie game its one of the better ones.  I'll post more as I get farther in the game.

Good review, but out of 5, I'd say this game is a 2 or a 2.5. Sloppy play controls, sometimes you seem to be pounding on boss enemies forever with no result, bla.

Honestly, besides the novelty of having an Iron Man game, I actually like the PS2 Superman Returns game better than this.

Cool. As expected with a movie game. Spider-Man i thought was much the same.

SEGA are contracted, i think, to make 2 more Iron Man games after this - one will be based on the comics and the other nothing has been said, probably the second movie game or something else?

Methinks that's not a bad idea.  Wait till it hits the $30-$40 dollar range if you want it for your collection.  It will probably hit that price pretty soon.

That brings up a rather interesting point.  For some reason I had no problem paying $50 for a game a couple years ago, and bought a lot of games based on word of mouth alone.  But now that the Next Gen games are $60, suddenly I find myself making less and less impulse buys when it comes to games.  I've had an Xbox 360 for almost 2.5 years now, and I only have half a dozen games for it.

Also, for all of the consoles other than Xbox 360 and PS3, the graphics are terrible.  I mean, I know that the other consoles aren't as powerful and all, but this doesn't even look like they're trying.  It looks like a crappy PS1 port or something.

That being said Kaiser, I actually thought that the PS3 version looks like a PS2 game...

Well now, that just goes to show you that practically no effort was put into making the game aesthetically pleasing. I've seen better looking graphics on a PC game that ran on Windows 98 than the Wii Iron Man grapics.

This is what i was saying in another thread a while back. How the graphics wont be that good for this game because it is multi-platform. The repetitiveness is expected also.

I still want to play it though. I dont think it will have replay-ability for me but i will not stop until i clock it and then it will probably sit somewhere while i go onto the next game.

Ahhh. what a life cycle!

Eh, you'll be hard-pressed to find many PSOne games that look like that, trust me. The exagerration caused by the passing of time I guess.

It doesn't look great, that's for sure (the Wii version is particularly disappointing...direct PS2 port), but that's taking it a little far.

I guess you're right.  I guess I did exaggerate.  Still, at least the Wii is a little more powerful than the original XBox, so graphics like these are absolutely inexcusable.
