Well, I've finally read it. The issue is fantastic. First of all, the layout is top notch. Roger's art is gorgeous (despite his lack of fondness for the Extremis armor he draws it really well), and so were some of the other artwork submissions. The interviews were great (I especially liked the one with the Knauf's). And I loved the 'then and now' comparison of Iron Man from 1978 to today. That analysis was really good, and I think I could use it as a primer on the character for friends who aren't as familiar with him or his history.

Guys,

I've just downloaded the issue and it looks amazing. I can't wait to read it in and around studying for my final.

The design is just gorgeous, what do you guys (John, Filipe & Brent) use as far as design software? (In Design or something else). Great work

And Filipe I LOVE your Iron Comrade art, any chance of A.I. making these into Desktops?

Anyway, it looks great, and I'm sure it reads even better.

Keep it up gentlemen,

best

Kim

(cold_war_myth)

P.S. I have a PDF security question for the designers. If you want to post a PDF magazine, but don't want people copying the file for use on their sites, what do you do?

And is it possible to be able to print the PDF but not be able to scan it for reposting elsewhere? (or is this a question best left for Adobe?).

Thanks for all you do and all the great contributions. I'm looking forward to reading the Knauf interview since I couldn't follow the comic.

Hi Kim,

Thanks for the zine-pliments, I know we all appreciate the comments.
For the most part we use Adobe programs, and InDesign is most common for the layouts, unless Filipe has done something to change the final layout routine recently.  Believe it or not, we've done crazy stuff to help convey ideas back and forth before Filipe secures the final layouts.  This is including hand drawn scans and using MS Excel in.... unique ways.  It's more of a collaborative process than people might realize, but it helps that we've got great graphic designers such as Fmuff and Brohara helping polish what we've got.  Ultimately though it's a pretty smooth process now that we've hammered out how we wanted the zine to look for several issues.  Coincidentally, another aesthetic change is on the way soon!

As far as security goes, you can password protect the document so that it is locked for editing and becomes read only for the downloads, but nothing is to stop someone from printing the zine and then rescanning it, although that seems like a lot of trouble to go to just to steal someone's fan work. Wink

Thanks again!
