They need to what they did with Conan and Arnie.
So you're saying they need to make the worst possible casting choice for the worst possible movie?

I don't think he's been a laid-back, pot-smoking dude since True Romance. But, that IS what he is. A pot-smoking, laid back dude. I don't know where you live or whatever, but none of the guys next door to me are married to Angelina Jolie, so there's your unattainability. I go to the mall and see 20 girls better looking than Jolie. Nothing against Jolie, she's a beautiful woman, but as for unattainability ... if she wasn't an actress, she'd be just one of millions of beautiful women.

Marvel Studio's Prez Kevin Feige made a few comments about the status and setting of the film recently, including the info that screenwriter Mark Protosevich ( I Am Legend, The Cell) is expected to submit a draft of the script in a couple of weeks. Via Newsarama. What are you waiting for, go read the article, there's more about the shared movie Marvel Universe...

He mentioned it takes place LARGELY in Asgard.
I'm okay with that. It's probably an "origin" of sorts ... kind of like Captain America.

Sure, tell the origin of the character in Asgard, then have him banished on Earth to walk amongst the humans as Don Blake, then have Thor become a part of the Avengers. Works for me.

Is there any new news on who they are picking to play as THOR. I think they should get triple HHH the GAME from WWE to play as thor because he is realy big and he has that rough and tough face and the long hair, And he acts on a weekly basis so there is some expierience there.

From what I've heard about the Protosevich script, it's mostly set in Asgard with a little action in the mortal world. During the time of Vikings. As silly as that all sounds, I've also heard it might be the best superhero movie script ever written and is by and large unfilmable. So don't expect anything you hear about it to make it into an actual film. noWhy is it always this dude? Does nobody want to see a real actor in this movie? It's alot easier to take an actor, that is to say, a guy who knows how to act for cinema and send them to the gym for 6 months than it is to take a TV wrestling clown and teach them how to emote beyond "you really want to hit this guy with a chair". What does that leave you with? He's big and he has blonde hair? I know money is an issue with a big-budget spectacles, but I think they can afford hair dye and a crate for a real actor to stand on.

Thank you! If I ever hear of a wrestler attached to this project ... I'm out. These guys don't act, they entertain. There is a HUGE difference between stage acting and film acting ... On film things have to be subtle, on stage grandiose. I can only imagine the vast difference between the WWE and real acting!! It's like ... well ... the difference between football player and soccer star. (sure, they are both athletes ... but that's where it ends) It's even more inconceivable if the film is largely set to be in Asgard and have Thor CARRY the movie rather than his human counterpart. Given the choice between Pitt and Tripe-H ... give me Pitt or give me death.

he has the look, kinda. but he doesnt have the charisma or the bad ass-ness Thor needs, or the varying emotions within him. He has to go from a hardened blood thirsty killer to someone who sees the beauty in the world below.

Really, though, if you look at Thor from the cover of his first appearance, he's not really that musclebound. That came later, as other artists worked on him. I think you could get a decent-sized actor and make him work out for 6 months, like Mr Fabulous said. Christian Bale went from losing 60 lbs for his role in the Machinist to bulking up considerably for Batman Begins.

True that, about the comics. But, back then it wasn't that well accepted and well liked to be big so he was drawled like like a average somewhat fit man. I believe it all started with Arnolds presence that started the bigger than life action hero with Conan. from there characters started to add some size on. But i think everyone that is younger is going to be going off the newer look that THOR presents in the comics which makes it so much more important to pick the right person to play THOR in order for the film to be a hit at the box office.

RDJ physique didn't resemble the well muscled illustrations Ive seen of him in comics, yet would you have anyone other than RDJ play Stark now? I don't think so.
I think Tamonah Penikett ("Helo" - BSG) would make a good Thor - good actor & has the physicality (6' 3") to pull it off. Also Karl Urban (6' 1") has a pretty good Middle Earth accent (Eomer - LOTR) & also can play physical roles is another contender.
