Well, it looks to race. BMB (aka Bendis) stated Nick Fury would be resurfacing some time within the (next) year at his panel at PhillyWorld.

So, will we be seeing Nick or RDjr as Tony first? Lay your odds or place your bets.

As far as I'm concerned, neither can get here quick enough. Nick has been sorely missed IMO and would make a great supporting character in IM:DoS.

Well, we all knew Fury would be back sooner or later. He was too good of a character to be gone long. It will be interesting to see how tings turn out with his return though.

It's likely, I think. Although I'm not sure if this Skrull thing will play out in Avengers or if it will take us to the 2008 summer event...

Now that I think of it, Illuminati #1 did involve the Skrull, with their emporer saying they got what they needed, were going to conquer earth and he could wait as long as it takes.
