Well, for those who havent seen it online yet, the PS3 received last night the latest firmware update. v 2.10

Some of the changes include:
Blueray player update to 1.1
DivX, XviD, and WMV/VC-1 Playback
New visualizer for playing music
Voice changeover
Some control over music
and some other minor irrelevant stuff

go get your system updated!

*** its also being mentioned that now you can play PS1 games on the PSP via remote play if you have the game discs loaded into the PS3 drive

I still haven't been able to update my HD player for God's sake (for whatever reason PowerISO is giving me problems and I can't make it work... argghH!). I don't have a PS3... how do you update one of those out of curiosity?

I would assume by connecting to the PS3's online service.  My XBox360 automatically updates with new features and backward compatibility emulators and such when I'm connected to Xbox Live.

ok, i just tested and, YES you can play PS1 games from the PSP via remote play when you leave a PS1 game disc in the PS3 drive

updates procedure? You can either download the file from a PC and put it into a Flash media, or USB  storage device, you can burn it into a CD or DVD (not worth for a 100Mb file) or you can directly click on Update on the PS3 XMB. it downloads itself and asks you to install it. It can also come bundle on some game discs.
