well, i have been absent from the forums for a few weeks now.... i was on vacation visiting my parents on Puerto Rico.
My stay was pretty good, and i had a great time, got plenty of pics, ate plenty awesome food, and got to see some good ol friends i haven't seen  in about 3+ yrs.
Last Thursday i took most of my family to the airport for a trip. On my way back i went sight seeing on my dad's new 07 Jeep Commander. On my way home after a full day of enjoyment, i got HIT by a 07 GSXR motorcycle. Highways on PR are 2 lanes, and many towns have stop lights on them.  I was traveling at around 50mph on the left lane on the highway, and i was approaching a light. As i pretty much get to it, i notice a sillouete of a bike crossing the highway, i stepped on the brakes real hard, swerved left, but still had the collision. The impact was hard enough that the jeep jumped and rumbled. I get out and i see a bike on the middle of the street. I look under the car to make sure the rider wasn't there and then proceeded to ID him and help him out. His helmet, shoes and gloves went flying off.... I swore i ran him over, and according to witnesses, he was tangled in the bike and rolled a few times under the car. Needless to say, he walk away with just 3 stitches on his forehead, 2 on his nose and a bunch of bruises. He didn't even break a bone. For me he was born again that day. I am glad the gear he had, saved his life as well as the cage the bike had. Apparently the guy had a problem with the idle, rev the bike to keep it alive, and while trying to mess with the bike, he slipped off the clutch causing the bike to jump into my path.

I know this doesn't matter much, but i wanted to share this shaking experience with you all, and to say to any fellow riders to please be careful  and always wear your gear, it can save your life. And or if you can invest on a cage for your bike, it will also help. The Jeep suffered over 7500$$$ damage, and all that can be replaced, a life cant.

Glad no one was seriously hurt.

One thing... given your description of what happened, you didn't kill anyone, heck, you weren't at fault even if a tragedy did occur. Don't feel the need to hold yourself responsible for things you can't possibly control.

Tetra's right.  You shouldn't be at fault for the man's issues with his bike.  It would be a tragedy that he died, but you shouldn't feel guilty for this sort of thing.

i am a rider myself... and this is also a lesson for me and everyone; a reminder or how important being safe should be

i do not see a bike being no more dangerous than a car, or a plane, or a boat, etc, as long as all precautions are taken

as for me, yea i was shaken up a little bit, but its all gone. I used the tittle to describe an event that was very important on a man's life
even if something bad happened to him, regardless of fault.
i wouldnt blame myself as long as the act was not a choice i made.

Glad you (and the rider) were both OK... Glad to hear you had a great visit home.

No matter who's to blame it's still a tremendous shock when something like that happens. Glad you're okay, and the biker, well, could have been much worse.
