I came across a news article today and thought I'd post it.

It's a 12 episode Anime series of Iron Man produced by Madhouse. Which I think is pretty exciting as Madhouse has done some pretty good stuff in the past and also use less exaggerated character designs normally used in Anime. The only gripe I have is I don't like the design of the armor (it's apparantly the Extremis one, of which I'm not a fan). I wish they'd use the one from the movie or even better made their own design as their mecha designs usually don't disappoint.

Why was Doc wearing that mask for a while?
In Doctor Strange #177, the villain Asmodeus exiled Doc to a hostile dimension. Asmodeus then took the form of Doc in order to approach and surprise-attack the Ancient One. But Doc survived the exile. When Doc attempted to return to the Earth dimension, he could not enter, because someone else had his form. So he conjured a mask and a slight costume change.

A metaphysical law prevents two people with the exact form from existing in the same dimension. Okay, I can make that work. But then a mere mask bypasses that law? Pretty weak.

After Asmodeus' defeat and reversion back to original form, Doc keeps wearing the mask. Why?

The "real" reason for the mask was an attempt to give Doc a more superhero appearance, probably to shake the title up and boost sales.

Doc continued to wear the mask until Incredible Hulk #126, at which point he quits the mystic arts for a short time (until Marvel Feature #1).

Thanks, that's what I figured. Shame really.

"Of course Mr President, you do me great honour. Though with all due respect, Sir... I must point out that my last stint as Secretary of Defence didn't work out that well."

"I know, I know. I've read the reports, but that's water under the bridge and Tony, you're still the best...Iron Man...for the job. Just think it over please, your country needs you, and thanks again for seeing me at such short notice.  I really appreciate it, especially since you're in the middle of a mission...."

"Mr President, I could say the same of you. Sir, it's been an honour! And I will certainly give your offer the most serious consideration."

"Can't ask more than that. Oh, wait just a minute, I find I must! I almost forgot...this is kind of embarassing but my kids will kill me if I don't ask for an autograph...."

"Of course Mr President. Who do I make it out too?"

"Uh, well you see, actually Tony, they wanted me to ask you if you could get War Machine's autograph."

"Ahem, I see. Of course Mr President! Next time I see Jim Rhodes I'll be sure to ask him. Actually, Sir,  that reminds me, he wanted to me to ask you a question about the Marine Corps."

"He wants to re-enlist? Get back in the Corps?"

"Well, no Mr President, not exactly.  Actually, he wants to BE the Corps."

"Whew! Tell him..tell him,  I'll see what I can do..."

"He'd appreciate that Mr President."

"Huh! Wait until I tell the kids! Now, I've cleared it with the Secret Service, so it's okay if you take off from the porch, only y'know, Michelle says to mind the roses..."

"Of course Mr President. Thank you sir."

"No Tony, Thank YOU!"

WHOOOOSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHH  !!

"Y'know, I really do hope he accepts, just so I can ask him how he manages to to sit on normal chairs without his armour crushing them....."

I really enjoyed seeing the first photos of President Elect Obama meeting President Bush in the Oval Office and thought it offered the perfect Photoshop Opportunity to have a little play.

Then I thought it might also make a good cover story for the Daily Bugle.

Peter Parker worked hard for this shot, hope that tightwad Jameson pays him for it!

The inserted Iron Man figure is the Diamond Select Extremis Armour figure, which I must say is a bit of a disappointment, articulation wise. Still, nothing a bit of digital tweaking can't fix!
