about adversity

I love Iron Man because while other characters look up to captain America as always doing the right thing even when its hard, Tony does the logical thing and takes care of business.  True, its harsh or cruel at times, but I like he idea of a hero saying "modog is a person, but a person who commits genocide as a career.  He cannot be reasoned with, maybe he deserves to die in space"

So the whole registration thing seemed like a good idea to me.  I mean if cops didn't follow the laws, would you trust them?  I rather enjoy my rights thank you.

as far as tony being blamed for all this, I call shenanigans.   I think the skrulls were to blame.  Had the hero community stayed as they were before the civil war, would they have been better off?

and the whole Illuminati being blamed for the invasion, I would say that goes back to Richards turning members of the royal family into hamburger.

also, hulk deserves to be shot into space for the billions of dolloars in damage he causes when he sneezes, also for being retarded.

I said this thing would suck, and I predicted it would be blamed on tony

Ok, so is it me or did the Dark Illuminati meet in Stark Tower? Tony will be on the run in the upcoming arc, meaning he's not going to be there. But if the Dark Illuminati are, that means theyll have access to Stark Tech, and possibly even the Iron Man armor. Which brings me to my point.

If they have access to that tech, could it be Osborn is the Iron Patriot?

In the original Thunderbolts, Zemo was Citizen V with an Americna flag motif for his costume. Osbrn controls the Thunderbolts, and the Iron Patriot has an American flag color scheme. The Thunderbolts were villains masquerading as heroes, and the Dark Avengers are heroes working for villains.

It all seems a bit too symetrical to me.

1) Its not surprising he gets a new costume seeing as how the Skrull imposter most likely ruined the Yellow Jacket's public perception. I'm fine with him just going back to Giant Man, though Pym has never been my favorite. As long as he doesnt go back to the West Coast Avengers style where he just wears a red jump suit and shrinks people.

2) I have a feeling the Initiative will be coming to an end when Dark Reign ends. The book started to really lose its luster IMO and a lot of the characters introduced just arent that interesting. Plus I think i read somewhere sales were sagging

3) Well on paper the Dark Avengers are a lot more powerful. Unfortunately that means nothing in comics. Even though Sentry could rip most the New Avengers in half with little problem, no way does it happen. I've always thought this "balancing" was BS in comics, but its been going on forever. If the Dark Avengers are the "bad guys" then I think the New Avengers will get their asses kicked cause Marvel will want to establish the Dark Avengers as a powerhouse.

4) Not sure what is going to happen with them. Though the solicit for tehs econd post SI issue has IM in the Jorge Lucas armor, not the Granov extremis armor. Since Tony is going to be on the run I dont think its going to be him.

so am i the only one who enjoyed this issue as well as secret invasion as a whole?

I'm with Mateus here. I really enjoyed following the whole of SI and found the final
issue to be a fine ending. I didn't know what Dark Reign was truly going to be until
I read this issue. So the reveals totally worked for me. I'm keen on what happens
next, so it's a success in my book. Sure, I'm frustrated by all the crap that Stark has
been through over the last few events; it's NOT rewarding to see him take the blame,
but I want to know what he does to fix it. Bendis pretty much admits in the Spotlight
interview that the bad guys got him good. He was set up for this fall. So what now?
This story is just getting started, and I'm interested to see where it takes him. The
fact that Stark was the original guy to say, 'we need to protect ourselves from
invasion' back in the first Illuminati appearance makes it gut-wrenching that he's
left taking the blame; when the others wouldn't support him when he warned of it.

I actually have more faith in Bendis' treatment of Stark than I do of Fraction at the
moment. Bendis does a great Stark, from the start of New Avengers, throughout
Illuminati, I was getting a better, truer Stark in the Avengers books than I was in
his own book. It's the OTHER writers I'm worried about. Think of all the tie-in issues
throughout and post Civil War; it was a real crap-shoot if they were going to get him
even close to correct ('will they treat him like a wimp or a full-on villain this time').

I was not a fan of the Zeb Stane arc that rebooted the Invincible Iron Man series,
in spite of all the alleged 'critical acclaim'. He has Stark behaving in ways that are
leaving me a bit 'repulsed'. It seems to me that Fraction believes he's adopted a
character that is 'unlikable' and morally questionable and he's writing that into his
Stark. That's not who Stark is, and it's not what Millar or Bendis had intended for
him when they put him in these circumstances. I'd actually feel better if Bendis
was handling the direction on the post Secret Invasion Stark, but in lieu of that,
I'm just hoping for the best and that Fraction will handle this one decently well.
The Knaufs would have had this current 'on-the-run' angle nailed, it's too bad we
don't have them around for this one. But enough lamenting...

Marvel has a modern grasp on the serialized nature of comics and they are bringing
it to new heights. I'm really digging the whole of the Marvel Universe right now as a
result, and to their credit. So you'll get a 'Go Marvel' from me on all of this.

Does anyone know if the Capt. America armor figure has been released? I've been looking for it for over a month & haven't found it yet.

I'm pissed that Bucky\Cap also walked away from Tony after all was said and done.  Thor had just told Tony to suck it and flew off, leaving Tony looking for some support and Bucky\Cap has the nerve to turn his back on him.

What the Hell!!!

It's because of Tony that Bucky is Cap, because of Tony that all of the records on Bucky's past activities have been erased, and it's because of Tony that Bucky has all the resources he needs.  Bucky also knows that Tony was not responsible for Steve's death.  He has no reason to snub Tony and yet he does.  I'm sure it works for dramatic effect but it seemed a little out of character to me.

i have a good friend on another site that got to talk to matt fraction a little, and he asked him if writers read or ask other writers about thier characters, that they might might be having too write. when he asked matt about bendis, he told him that bendis has free reign to pretty much write any character the way he wants, with JQ'S blessing. so there ya go. bendis just does what he wants. i firmly believe that if JQ were to suddenly stop walking, bendis would fly halfway up his ass. its up too fraction to make this coming story with tony work....

Alright guys, here's the thread for all your post SI predictions for New and Mighty Avengers, as well as the Initiative. We can keep using the Dark Avengers thread we already had for Dark Avengers stuff.

Alrighty: First and foremost, it looks like Henry Pym is getting a new costume, and probably a new codename too. Because he's Pym, and can't stick with one look too long. Any guesses on the new name? I'm guessing something insect related. Hornet maybe?

Second, from the Avengers: The Initiative solicits, the Thor clone seems to have gone on a rampage. Looks like the official name for Clor is going to be Ragnarok, but I could be reading that wrong. Pure speculation here: with Rhodey and Skrull-Pym gone, and with the Villains now in charge of the government, I'm guessing Taskmaster gets control of the Initiative.

The New Avengers will be taking on the Dark Avengers in Febuary, I expect they'll get their asses kicked. Just by the double cover, the New Avengers are outnumbered, and outgunned. Unless I'm seriously overestimating the abilities of the Dark Avengers we don't know a lot about.

I initially thought the Mighty Avengers would shed a few memebers after the first arc, but if they're going through the trouble of a connective mural cover for the first new arc, I'm guessing the new lineup will last at least two or three arcs.
